Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

The tighter window will also be better abating sound. While there are some colonial bevels to the exterior of the 800, they are pretty similar to the Sunrise extrusion once you see it. Can't go wrong with either. If you like the look of the Sunrise, its a solid window. Assuming both installation com...

Re: Install methods.

1/8 is fine with the fibrous sidings. Its more for the siding than it is the for the window.

Re: Gorell window replacement

Tough spot to be in. Have you called a local glazing company? Perhaps they can order or remake the IGUs for you?

Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

Any pictures of the sills? If the sills were rotted, one could make a possible argument that the water could infiltrate via that area, but everything I see here says STUCCO is the culprit. Especially this kind of fake stucco system without proper z-bar flashings.

Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

I have yanked out Andersen casements for years. Nothing about the location of the water staining, the water on the back of the exterior sheathing, or the lack of any visible rot in the sill (although not pictured) tells me this is a window issue. That said, the windows are probably due for replaceme...

Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

Why was new construction opted for here as a default? I am not usually a fan of furring out the outside of the home and effectively creating a ripple (speed bump) in the drainage plane.

Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

FYI...I emailed the moderator and they said they only deleted your post inquiring about the post approval and the first part of your post that was referencing the approval. They deleted it because they didn't think it would make sense to the casual reader. Just thought I would bring you up to speed ...

Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

Chris, I think the moderators, just like the pros here that are posters, do this in a strictly volunteer capacity. That said, you may note a 24 hour turn around time in post approvals. If the posts are smaller (i.e. not as much text), the aren't flagged as a standard because of their likeness to som...

Re: Replacement window ADVICE NEEDED - Rock Hill South Carolina

You should have most of the well regarded brands available to you in South Carolina.

Soft-Lite Elements, Sunrise Restorations, Kensington Quantum 2, and Okna EnviroStar are all pretty well regarded vinyl windows.

Re: Another Sunrise Question

Frame sizes on the Sunrise and the Okna 600 should identical in this comparison if memory serves me correctly, but if you are happy with the look and the reinforcement on the Sunrise...it is definitely one of the more recommended windows out there so you are in good shape.

Re: Install methods.

Good update.

Air sealing and insulation will help any home with air leaks. Think of the home as a big chimney when it moves air out, air must come in to replace it.
