Check the green board you also posted this on. Great recommendation over there.

Re: Window Choices in Tennessee

Will get you a recommendation shortly. Not a fan of any of the 3 to be honest.

Re: Casement window or slider?

It's a bit too small for twin double hung set up to be honest. The window will look a bit stumpy, but that window is right on the size edge of where it would look okay.

I normally don't recommend sliders, but for maximum glass and consistency, not a bad idea here.

Re: Casement window or slider?

Yes.

Twin casement will approach 2X of the slider as it is two units, mulled to a single opening.

Re: Casement window or slider?

A twin casement will be "tighter" by comparison, but a well installed and designed slider does not have to be a leaky window and will net more glass than a twin casement (in vinyl).

Re: Okna Insultec vs Provia aspect

Well said HomeSealed. The differences and engineering will show on a new product...and even more so as it ages out. While Provia is well know for their door manufacturing, the window side of the equation has had some growing pains. Not unexpected given a new product launch, but kind of like buying a...

Re: Window Replacement in PA Area

The Window Nerd services the Philly area. I would only hesitate to shop on price alone. Even with your criteria of ownership timeline, a slightly nicer window, coming at only a small premium over a throw away product, will show better when you sell the home and, ultimately, last the next buyer a lif...

Re: Okna Insultec vs Provia aspect

The Okna Insul-Tec is a 0.02 so 2.5X tighter than the Aspect. If you look at the two of them side by side, the Okna is generally thought of as the "prettier" as well. The Endure is bulky and chubby looking. The Aspect does have slim lines like the Okna 500 here. If you haven't had them quo...

Re: Okna 800 vs SoftLite Elements vs GreatLakes ComfortSmart

+1.

Don't think I'd take the flyer on the surface 4 Low-e for the reasons mentioned. Definitely a NO-GO in Wisconsin climate.

The 800 is the better looking of that twosomes.

Re: Which of these brands would you recommend

Not considered great products or on the one end, famous for great installs. At the end of the day, the pros on the boards here can sell and install whatever products we like. The reason that we like the products that we do, is because they are the most dependable, easiest to install (i.e. robust, sq...

Re: Which of these brands would you recommend

Agreed. Their middle and upper lines are nice. I still think the Okna is probably the paper champ, but you couldn't go wrong with Joyce either.

Would absolutely call AGM. Pricing is weirdly low.

What year Z28? I know that HomeSealed is an F-Body lover like me.
