Re: Simonton Daylight Max 7300 vs Monte Verde Bay View

Have you gotten any other quotes? Usually the rule of thumb is to take a look at two if you aren't 100% certain on a product/company or don't have a personal referral.

Re: Simonton Daylight Max 7300 vs Monte Verde Bay View

Its going to be tough to get some really directed feedback here on the comparison because none of the pros on here, that I know of, are on the West Coast. What I can say is that we do know that Simonton makes a decent product and certainly something that they stand behind firmly. Was there any compa...

Re: Low-e windows and green hue - help!

Much like many choices out there, it is a trade off on some level. I will say that most clients, even those that are light sensitive, don't seem to mind it after it is installed for about a week.

I would ask about Low-e 272 as referenced above.

Re: Install methods.

That's awesome data.

Kind of blows a hole in the argument that windows don't have a tangible impact on the heating and cooling of the home. That Low-e is going to probably work even better, in your climate, in the summer too!

Re: Spare parts for White Corona 4000 series Schuco windows

You'll need the IGU measurements (best to pull the glazing bead and see what the hold back on the sides is) along with the IGU thickness.

Once you have that, depending on where you are located, you should be able to get a nice replacement.

Depending on how cold it gets, you might see that outer chamber freeze up.

Re: Spare parts for White Corona 4000 series Schuco windows

The IGU would be compromised at that point and you would likely have condensation issues that would be reactive with the Low-e.

It will need to be fixed at some point.

Mike...do you have Carol's or Shuco USA's information?

Might be good to bookmark that for future inquiries.

Re: Spare parts for White Corona 4000 series Schuco windows

I doubt you are going to find a full sash.

I think you best bet is going to be to get the window sash re-glazed on the upper and lower sash with a new triple glazed IGU.

You need to figure out what the IGU spacing (i.e. thickness) is.

Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

Spray foam is preferred in my opinion. The open cell foam around the windows is not as effective at stopping air infiltration.

Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

I was only commenting on the product in that recommendation. If you like the installer better...its a win - win.

I agree with HomeSealed. The Okna with the standard glass is the more appropriate glass here. The only better option would but triple pane with the standard SHGC glass.

Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

The 800 with the standard deluxe would be my overwhelming choice of that group.

If you want more efficiency, go with the triple pane.

Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

Still gets chilly in NC. I think surface 4 coatings are a band-aid for mediocre glass and unless you live in an arid climate, a possible recipe for customer disappointment and complaints.
