Re: Simonton, Ply Gem or Alside

Your Simonton windows will last 10 years and well beyond that. We have been selling Simonton for 23 years and the level of customer satisfaction has been very good. We have customers still living in the homes where we installed Simonton over 20 years ago and the windows are fine. Simonton is certain...

Re: Need help finding a good quality sliding door

The PGT 5470 is an excellent choice! From what I have seen it’s the strongest PVC patio door on the market, the Design Pressure rating is 60. PGT maintains a DP60 even in their multi panel multi track doors. We delivered a 8 panel 4 track center sliding door 384” x 94” to Long Island a few weeks ago...

Re: Simonton ProFinish Contractor vs Reflections 5500

I think structurally the two windows are about equal. The Brickmould 600 has a narrower cleaner looking sash and it is triple weather-stripped.

Nicer looking exterior as well.

Re: Simonton ProFinish Contractor vs Reflections 5500

I would look into the Simonton Pro-Finish Brickmould 600; it’s a step up from the Pro-Finish contractor in terms of appearance. The problem with the 5500 is that you require a larger opening to meet egress with a double hung window. To meet egress with a 5500 double hung your window must be 40 x 63 ...

Your price is very fair. There may be a small difference in price between the larger and smaller window.

Re: Seeking advise for mid range windows selection in North East

I have heard this low grade vinyl formulation vs high grade formulation often over the years and 34 years ago when I started in this biz the vinyl windows that were available to us were all thin framed poorly designed products by today’s standards. Unfortunately we installed thousands of them and so...

Re: Burris in Houston, how are they value for money

No this type of detail is not found on the Simonton web site. We are Simonton distributors and have their order entry system on our computer so as I change size and select different DP ratings I can view what is changing with the components of the window.

Re: Burris in Houston, how are they value for money

The standard DP for the Reflections 5500 double hung is DP25 and will have a solid cavity plug in the sill at the bottom of the balance channel sealing the sill only allowing water drainage off the sloped sill.. For windows up to and including 36” wide going to DP50 only entails that same plug to be...

Re: Burris in Houston, how are they value for money

Generations window also known as the 7500 series is Simonton’s top of the line private label window. This window is the same as the Impressions 9800 with a different lift handle design; it’s a good solid product. Randy is correct reinforcement is not standard unless the window is very large; if you ...

"Support system" really , I had a customer where we installed the back and the sides of the house a year after a contractor did the front with ALSIDE. Customer showed me a haze in the arched window in the entry foyer. Clear case of low-e in backwards, ALSIDE stuck to the warranty providing...

Re: Simonton 5500 spec questions

have them bump up the DP rating on this, DP55 is available and they should not charge you a penny for the upgrade. Sash reinforcement is included in your window specifications and what is listed below. 36" (T) X 63" (T) 5500 Reflections White Double Hung; Tip-to-Tip; IntJF-J; 1'' IGU Thick...

Re: Just had a Home Depot rep visit:

The windows HD sells are re-branded Simonton products not an exclusive window just an exclusive name. The 6100 is the same as a Reflections 5050 and the Prism Silver. Prism is a private label name used by the distributor Norandex. Most windows produced by Simonton are sold under their brand name. Th...
