Re: Windows in Germany

Unilux is a premium wood and aluminum clad product that we in the US would associate with quality companys such as Marvin. For premium vinyl check out the products there from Gayko. See http://www.gayko.de Hope this helps. FYI- Unilux is made in the oldest village in Germany. It was established by t...

Re: What to look for when they are installing?

#1 would be a copy of workers' comp insurance and liability insurance. Since the downturn in the economy most subs have dropped there insurance and most Gorell dealers use sub-contractors. Would hate to see you homeless. For the actual install we need more specific information like lead testing resu...

Re: Definition of 'low quality window'

Actually glass less than 1-3/8" overall ...and wouldn't a 70mm frame be better than a 90mm frame if the installation required it?

Re: PELLA LAWSUIT (Pella vs Anderson vs Marvins)

Pella does not use extruded aluminum on there sashes. Andersen uses a vinyl paint on there sashes. Extruded aluminum clading is not maintenance free- its' considered low maintenance. It fades unless you use car wax to maintain the color. Aluminum condensates in the cold so it should not be placed di...

Re: Joyce Windows

Joyce bought Graef. Not a bad window at all. Middle of the road but miles above many. I installed many a Graef with no problems and even after 5-10 years they are still holding up with no service requests.

Re: Does window size affect the integrity of a vinyl window?

The weight of the glass may bow the sashes and cause the window world effect, I mean air infiltration. Get the reinforcement in the check rails for sure as Eco recommends. One reason many of us like the Imperial LS. Reinforcement with a non-conductive material is standard and at 36 and especially 40...

Re: SilverLine Series 7500

There are 764 window manufacturers on the nfrc.org site and many others not listed there. The pros here seem to like about 10 of the manufacturers from a thousand years of combined experience between us. I don't believe Silverline is one of the 10 or even top 100. There. That was not negative was it...

Re: Gorell 3300 or Gilkey in Ohio?

I'd go with Western Hills. Does it not make since that they are the same cost. One is from a distributor and one direct from the manufacturer. I would expect Gilkey should be alot less since they cut out the middleman; however, they double dip and you are being milked.

Moo.

Re: windows to be replaced by window world

Poll- Can any pro here buy a plastic window for 189? $60 for the installer, $60 for the product, $19 for the salesman- would have to sell 2500 per year or like 5-8 everyday, 7 days a week to be slightly above poverty level, $30 for advertising, $18 for someone to answer the phone, owners, administra...

Re: Weathershield Visions 2000 Leaking Problems - How do we Proc

I have seen the same. Nothing like making someones day when you tell them they have crap and it should be replaced or you can replace the glass and do it again after the warranty expires. With WS up for sale they may not make it till the end of your warranty so I would not put off a decision for too...

The law will ban the use of wood composite windows with a lengthy period for wood composite window makers to exhaust there stock by the end of 2012. If you are wanting a wood composite window you should run out and buy them now. Keep in min...
