Re: triple vs double pane in sunrise windows?
I'm in Oklahoma where I'm more concerned about heat rather than cold, and I've been offered the same TP deal on a Vanguard as was the original poster. The bid was $850 for a 54"x54" double hung window if I also let him replace my vinyl siding. Otherwise, he didn't want to do just one windo...

Re: Myth or Truth
The next question seems to be: Can gas be added back to the window at this point in time, and if not, is that research that is being done?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Question for pros
While you are discussing this, what is necessary in starting a window installation business? In Oklahoma there is a real lack of good installation companies, and I think they could use some competition. I've never installed a window, but I've learned a lot doing Internet research over the past two y...

Re: Removal of Old Windows (Guy)
Guy, the Multimaster looks really small for removing windows, but I'm sure it works if you use it. I've never seen it used. What blade do you use for removing windows?

Sunrise Restorations
Can someone recommend a Sunrise Restorations dealer and/or installer in Oklahoma City. I can't find information on the Restorations on the Sunrise site, or a list of dealers. Is the Restorations any different than the regular Sunrise?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Removal of Old Windows
It would be vinyl windows replacing wooden windows from the outside.

Seal Slope
I was considering Sunrise, but after seeing one today, I'm having second thoughts, and am now back to a previous consideration which was Simonton. It didn't look like the Sunrise had much of a slope to the seal, and the Simonton has a step seal. In Oklahoma, we have occasional freezing rain, and ice...

Removal of Old Windows
The installer I'm considering removes the old wooden windows with a circular saw. This seems like a crude way of doing it, but may be the only logical way. Is this the usual way of doing it? Thanks. Rick

Does anyone know what window, with no reinforcements and no slotted plug, has the highest DP rating?

I Watched an Installation Today and Have a Few Questions.
I'm in Oklahoma, and I have talked with quite a few salesman and dealer/installers, and choose one that seemed the most knowledgeable, could answer most of my questions correctly, and agreed to use low expansion foam (even though he had never used foam in the past, and would use a straw, because he ...

Weight of Tripple Pane
At what point (window size), if any, would weight become an issue when considering tripple vs double pane in a DH window? I realize this is probably subjective. I'm just looking for opinions.
Thanks
Rick

Labor Warranty
The installers I have talked to do not use a written labor warranty. I would like to present them with one to find out their reaction. Hopefully, they would sign one. I know that doesn't mean a lot, but it seems better than nothing in writing. Can anyone tell me how this should be worded, or give me...

Insulating Around the Inner Frame
I read in an old post that the area around the inner frame between the buckframe and the new window should be insulated, and to do this, the inner stops or casings have to be removed. I was not going to have my windows installed from the inside in order to leave the inner trim undisturbed. If the in...

Re: DP Ratings
Thanks for your responces. The largest window will be a 55" x 62" DH living room window. It is presently a small metal frame picture window with two narrow casements on each side. It faces the East and has a porch roof for some protection. The next largest will be a 52" x 52" DH ...
