Window Question

On a slider window, when it is closed and locked should there be much or any side to side play?
I noticed when I shut and locked them that both sashes will move together a bit each way.

Since my others don't do this I'm just assuming this one shouldn't?

Unfortunately this was the biggest of the 4 sliders. If I add up the cost of the new window and the materials I've bought to experiment with, I probably could have just went with the Milgard in the first place. Just finished rigging my old window as an interior one. Don't laugh too hard... Cro...

Since I just paid 650 for the new vinyl window (est. 70"x48") I'm out of options for trying anything other than an interior. Is their lami storm on the inside or out? On the inside I used to have a 1/2" thick board covering the whole window with a cutout in the middle of it and 1/8&qu...

Before I bought it, the window people I went with told me it would be .125 + .060 interlayer + .125 and double strength for the outside pane giving me the differing thickness I was shooting for. I said "random thickness" because at the time I couldn't remember what they said. They had it w...

Simonton question

I posted this on the other board also. According to these specs, would the total thickness of the laminated pane be 1/8" .063 + "random thickness interlayer" +.063 ?? Or would it be closer to 1/4" ?? Also, I didn't think they offered the 9800 as a double slider but that's what I ...

As an owner of some no low-e, no argon Excaliburs I can say that if you get this (or I guess any window) installed improperly by a junk (WW) or other co. you'll regret not doing your research. If you're in my area and probably others to, do not bother with WW unless you make them put in the contract...

I was talking to a buddy of mine at work last night who also happens to be a very succesful realtor on the side here in Tulsa. He says Window World still runs the $189 ads in the paper. Like I said, my salesman told me last year that they did not sell that window anymore because it was junk. That's ...

I bought out of ignorance and thought anything would be better than the originals. My french doors were also in bad shape and lots of cold air was finding it's way inside. When the salesman handed me the price list for the windows, it made me feel like I wouldn't have to worry about an outrageous qu...

I'm just a consumer and I know I'm not the only one who makes the mistake of buying cheap windows and ends up regretting it. It's only been a year since my purchase and I'm looking into quality replacements. Even if us consumers do buy the garbage $189 windows, we'll be back to buy the real products...

After owning some Excalibur sliders (**with no low-e/argon**) that I don't think are installed and insulated properly, I can't call them anything other than bottom of the barrel. On the other hand, I have read here or somewhere that even the low grade could outperform a premium one if installed bett...
