Garden Door

I'm looking to replace a 5' slider. I thought I wanted French Doors but read that they may be suseptible to sagging. Is that true? Can anyone help me on other general questions on garden doors (non-sliders) What should I look for regarding construction? Fiberglass? Vinyl? Wood? Pros and cons? Is it ...

Simonton 9800 vs 5500

Can anyone provide a comparison of the two? Also, it's been a few months and I think that there were also cosmetic differences? Does anyone have photos of each that the could share? How about frame sizes and the amount of glass in each? (Less glass/more frame in either of these?) Thanks much!

Does the Suprema Plus have TPS? (Sales Rep showed me marketing material from Schuco that spoke to it but it the material wasn't model specific; rep also didn't seem to know a lot about the window...he was confused when I asked about the spacer and he was also confused when I asked what model he was ...

I just read a copy of a Schuco warranty that appears to be a 5/2002 version (based on a code in the bottom right corner). The IG limited lifetime is 20 years/100%; Schco charges you 80% of the selling price (yrs 21-30) and 90% beyond 30years. Coverage is provided while you own and reside in the resi...

I signed the contract about 1/2 hr ago. Didn't go for the roof and he kept his price of $465 per excluding grids; I'm paying an additional $20 per sash on 8 sashes, 6 over 6. He documented everything I asked for on the contract (Suprema, triple IG, low e; price to include install and capping; no sub...

2500 Series? Since i've never heard of it, I'm interested in your willingness to share information. The great majority of Schuco posts are about the Corona, an occasional post about Suprema or Insulsash. I recall one post about a 3000 model described pretty much as a dinosaur. Please descibe specs t...

Dealer is Monmouth Vinyl Inc., Howell NJ No BBB complaints in 36 months. Rep allowed me to write down addresses of prior clients which I'll check out. Labor Warranty is lifetime for owner remaining in house. Exclusion language isn't written very well so I have to read that over again. Regarding inst...

Proper Installation

I can cook, clean, run a business but I know nothing about proper window installation! Can anyone refer me to information on what to look for when installers put in windows? For Schucos, is additional insulation added? Is caulking always done? Is there any type of checkoff list available for review?

Interior Wood Trim

I'm considering Schuco and would like to know if their product replaces the interior wood trim work already in place. I know the window is vinyl and have no issues with that, but I'm wondering if I can keep the existing wood trim. Maybe vinyl against the wood will look funny as I'm sure I won't be a...

Schuco Double Vs Triple-Price Difference

Feature for feature and size for size, what percentage of the triple pane price should one pay for double pane? If $650 for triple, is 85% ($552) reasonable or should it be more like 90, 95%...less? Ballpark please.

Schuco Bay, Bow and Garden

I'm considering all of these, size of 60x40. I assume the bay and bow are available. Does the garden come that big? How much should I expect to pay for double glaze(Suprema) in NJ...excluding grills.

French folding window looks cool too. Price?

For Schuco, I found Morris Window and Siding, Monmouth Vinyl and Best Design carry these. Any comments on them or any additional recommen...

WindowModel and Installer Recommendations

I live in Monmouth County New Jersey. I am frankly, in a financial bind and will likely have to sell my home in the next year. The windows are an eye sore with the framing split/crumbling. Exisitng windows are aluminum and several don't open at all or they open, then slide down. I need trustworthy a...
