The exterior of the building is a painted, Masonite-type board.
Is Azek available in 3/4" x 3" or 3/4" x 3.5" sizes? One inch is too wide to fit into the j-channel and 4" is also too wide as aesthetically it would not look right.

Window Trim
I recently installed five (5) new white vinyl windows (Simonton Impressions) with extruded j-channel and nailing fin. I am looking for a product that is not wood, 3/4" thick (to slide into the j-channel) and about 3" wide (to cover the nailing fin) to trim these windows. The house does not...

If I use minimal expanding window & door foam can I (or should I) use a backer rod? Or do I use one or the other?

Look into the Simonton Impressions 9800 series window. This is the window you are looking for.

Re: Low expansion foam vs fiberglass
Window4U (IL), I really appreciate your advice...Thank you! 1. I will need to purchase a foam gun. What do you recommend? (I am replacing five windows in phase 1 of my project and then another six windows in phase 2. If all goes well I might be helping my brother replace twice or three times that nu...

Re: Low expansion foam vs fiberglass
"8. Loosely pack insulation around the window frame, on the interior, between the frame and the opening. The use of expandable foam is not recommend." The above quote is from Simonton's New Construction Installation Instructions. I have two questions. 1. If I use expandable foam will that ...

New construction vinyl windows
Since my brother and I will be installing the windows ourselves we are considering using new construction vinyl windows instead of vinyl replacement windows. I have been looking at vinyl replacement windows by Gorell, Soft-Lite and Sunrise. Does anyone know if they manufacture new construction vinyl...

Re: Great article on TPS vs Super spacer
After reading this article I am totally confused! I thought the SuperSpacer® was a "better" spacer than the Intercept® spacer. Yet, the article states, "The most successful of the warm-edge spacers is Intercept®,..." So which is it? I am getting close to making a decision on wind...

Re: Simonton windows or Sunrise Vanguard windows?
They didn't give me a reason that I could discern. In fact, one of the Gorell dealers wanted to sell me brand new windows for my entire house!
Enough on this topic which has nothing to do with my original question.

Re: Simonton windows or Sunrise Vanguard windows?
Skydawggy, If "I" do all of "MY" own research then why would "I" need this forum? For your knowledge, I did have a Sunrise dealer out. And do you know what example he brought? A double-hung (which is probably what 99.99% of all sales reps bring). I am not looking to pur...

Re: What are the top window brands for the self-installer?
windowsnj, I am a homeowner. I bought a home that is a total gut rehab. One of my brothers who has been in the construction trade for over 10 years is helping me remodel it. I want to replace 3 traps and 2 Two-Lite sliders in the kitchen. Then I want to replace 2 traps and 4 picture windows in the f...

Re: Simonton windows or Sunrise Vanguard windows?
If the Sunrise Vanguard vs. the Simonton 9800 Impressions is a fair apples to apples comparison which has the better warranty? Windows on Washington, if you had to pick between these two windows which would you choose and why? Delaware Mike, same question for you, if you had to pick between these tw...
