Thanks I almost forgot.

Using the search function on this site or doing a google search for reviews on the Excaliburs isn't brain surgery either.

...but I guess doing the "quote" thing might be...

Re: Windowwizards & OKNA foam fill issues

OKNA are NOT in any danger of going bankrupt or in any sort of trouble. a former employee/installer for Window Wizards was stealing jobs from them and doing the installs behind Window Wizrds back;he was Fired and no charges were files Huh?!? What does that have to do with a company misrepresenting ...

No more than any other type of screw. A good installer will know when to stop and won't drive the screw through the frame.

Has the Impervia guy said anything about there being any issues with the window that he's selling?

Re: Xact Windows

Does anyone have any reviews of the xact 1650? Sorry. My take on the Certainteed/MI windows is that I wouldn't put them in my house because of their build quality and looks. Honestly, and I'm being sincere, if you want a quick fix to get you through winter, don't buy cheap windows...but plastic ove...

Re: Xact Windows

Yeah I'm not sure you're going to do much better for $350-400 a window...but remember that you get what you pay for. :) Do you have an urgent problem with your existing windows that makes you feel like you have to replace them right now? Could you wait a year or two, get a better (although more expe...

Re: Xact Windows

Can you provide more details? Glass packages? Spacers? etc...So we can get a better idea of what you're comparing? Are MI and Window World's Alside the only two windows that you've looked at that fit your budget? I would say that those two are roughly comparable as far as looks and build quality go,...

Re: Thermal Industries

No not solid oak...it's plywood with an oak veneer. I believe a laminate is just, well..."laminated" onto the vinyl frame, like a sticker only stickier generally speaking. I'm not sure if it's a one step or two step process. And I don't know if OKNA's laminate is "durable" but it...

Re: Window World 4000 Series

WW uses Alside windows and I think the Comfort World 4000 is actually the Alside Excalibur. Do a search on this site for info on Alside windows...you'll find out a lot. :D

Re: Thermal Industries

Yes it's a laminate on the OKNA...kind of like a paper-type material, woodgrain looks very nice.

Re: PDT Industries

Yeah OKNA would be good but it depends on what part of Central PA you mean...it's a pretty vast area. There is an OKNA installer about an hour southeast of us but I don't know of any others around. Good windows, though! :D

Re: PDT Industries

In this area I would say Simonton, Gorell, some Great Lakes models would be your best value. I honestly have never seen a PGT window so I can't say for sure how they hold up over time. If you're looking for a proven track record for in this area, then the three I mentioned may be worth a little more...

Re: PDT Industries

Don't have any experience with the PGT, but it looks like it might be a decent window from its website and NFRC's site. I don't think you could go wrong with a Simonton, either. We get some NASTY winters up here in the central PA mountains so you'd want to get the best, most efficient window you cou...
