No more than any other type of screw. A good installer will know when to stop and won't drive the screw through the frame.

Can you provide more details? Glass packages? Spacers? etc...So we can get a better idea of what you're comparing? Are MI and Window World's Alside the only two windows that you've looked at that fit your budget? I would say that those two are roughly comparable as far as looks and build quality go,...

No not solid oak...it's plywood with an oak veneer. I believe a laminate is just, well..."laminated" onto the vinyl frame, like a sticker only stickier generally speaking. I'm not sure if it's a one step or two step process. And I don't know if OKNA's laminate is "durable" but it...

WW uses Alside windows and I think the Comfort World 4000 is actually the Alside Excalibur. Do a search on this site for info on Alside windows...you'll find out a lot.

Yes it's a laminate on the OKNA...kind of like a paper-type material, woodgrain looks very nice.

Yeah OKNA would be good but it depends on what part of Central PA you mean...it's a pretty vast area. There is an OKNA installer about an hour southeast of us but I don't know of any others around. Good windows, though!

In this area I would say Simonton, Gorell, some Great Lakes models would be your best value. I honestly have never seen a PGT window so I can't say for sure how they hold up over time. If you're looking for a proven track record for in this area, then the three I mentioned may be worth a little more...

Don't have any experience with the PGT, but it looks like it might be a decent window from its website and NFRC's site. I don't think you could go wrong with a Simonton, either.
