Re: Am I Going Insane?

I still think that pricing is high based on the sales tactics. Sometimes I even have some inconsistancies in pricing. For instance if you have a twin DH and it is an existing wood DH: if we do it as a pocket install it is two windows with two installs, if it is a full frame it is a twin(two windows ...

Re: Window installation warranty question

I used to do a one year install warranty. But in my market two year seems to be more the norm. I also think it is reasonable for all concerned.
I life time labor warranty tends to be to burdensome and full of legal tricks as well.

Re: Replacement Windows- Please Help! Sunrise vs. MI

I too would go Sunrise, make a great casement.
I like full frame. You should save gain 1 sq ft or more of glass with full frame. There is additional cost for full frame both in material cost and labor. So make sure you know if the interior casing is prefinished.

Re: Quote validation - Okna Windows

The 800DX by Okna is a super window. Very high performance.
The pricing does seem low, but I do not have the specs or scope of work for you project.

RA is extremely over priced IMHO.

Re: Casement window questions

Your current CW14 do meet egress.
If you do full frame replacements make sure they meet egress. Full frame replacement is the only way to meet egress in your case.

Re: Large picture window glass flex

I would not be worried about it. Just do not lean on the glass.
No warranty issues. I do not know how it could flex 1/2".
At 7/8" thick OD, 1/8" minimum lite thickness and GBG, I would be surprised if it is a 1/4" flex.

Re: Hurricane Windows/Doors

I looked at Schwinco website.
Could not find any shop drawings. It looks like a pocket sill, which I am opposed to.
The warranty on the insulated glass is only 10 years full, then you can buy IGU for 50% off list.
I would keep looking.

$2250 for a 3'x5' window that is a mediocre performer is crazy.

Re: Better way to install Window Screens

If there is no screen track on the exterior of the window then the screen goes in from the inside sides under the top "sash" and butts up againts the exterior frame. Sometimes they can be placed by just tilting the lower sash in.
