Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

Just looked at some of the photos. Those windows are not that old as they have HP glass. Do not use RBA, just my opinion. The stucco looks like it has been well sealed with elastomeric paint. The expansion joints show need of attention. How bout where the window frame is caulked to the exterior? The...

Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

At times 50% of our volume is full frame replacement. I would be willing to do this job for you. One of my concerns is the wind load on windows above the third floor, you need to make sure that the units select have the design pressure rating needed to meet code. I too doubt that the leaking is from...

Re: Sunrise??

I haven'y used a Sunrise window in years. That said, I was a SL dealer for years before the continued lack of QC destroyed the relationship. I have been using Okna for about 7 years and generally love them. We had some QC issues the past two years. They looked at us like we had two heads. Other of m...

Re: Omni Bow Window

Best if you get local help on that. You have no warranty on that. It could be a mfg problem or an install problem. You have at least two concerns: structure appearance The outside needs to be sealed, windows to seat board, seat board front face and bottom. Once that is done then it probalby can have...

Re: selecting two double hung vinyl windows

Do they have to advertise so you know how to find them? Do they have to come out to eval and show you products? Do they have to come and measure? Do they have to answer all your questions? Is your project low volume? Are they insured? Do they run a sustainable business so that you can get service if...

Re: Future of Starmark and stuck in window limbo

Okna is changing extruders for the Starmark line. If I remember correctly the old was a Royal extrusion, the new is a Chelsea extrusion. Hang tight, they will have the transition done soon.
I have seen the new double hung, extremely nice.

Re: Simonton vs. Sunrise

If air infiltration is the most important, why do so many window companies make it impossible to find?
Because they are embarrassed about the test results.

Re: Do I need full-frame replacement, and how do I vet the quote?

My response to the OP was comparing a vinyl insert replacement compared to a vinyl full frame( which can be done with or with out a fin). Thus the wood on the outside is completely done away with. The OP asked for a understanding about the two different types of installs, I feel I gave the most thro...

Re: Do I need full-frame replacement, and how do I vet the quote?

There are typically to groups of window replacement companies with their particular bend/orientation. There are those that do inserts replacement. There are those that do do full frame. You can usually tell which is which by how they propagandize their orientation. Benefits of full frame: Visible gl...
