Re: Warranty Repairs, Where's Schuco?

It's not my style to discuss the business of others but Renaissance has closed and they are not a franchise connected to the other locations. I know of a half dozen other very successful contracting businesses that have shut their doors too. The economy is affecting business owners on every level, s...

Re: I like spray foam but manufracturer and installer don't ...

Stick to your (foam) guns on this. Your manufacturer and installer are both behind the times. I am a corporate consultant to both Johns Manville and Owens Corning and they would even agree that their fiber glass and Fiberglass respectively will not perform when used this way. The gun will allow grea...

Do you have any data on STC performance of cellulose vs open cell spray foam when used in wall cavities? Which is better?

That would be referred to as a French Casement (opens inward) as opposed to an English Casement that Americans are more familiar with (opens outward). Some reverse these terms so there is no telling what name you might find it under. I have not seen any in vinyl. Sorry.

We prefer the Simonton Impressions 9800 series to the Gilkey products. The performance numbers are about the same but the Impressions is a more attractive unit with shadow grooved fusion welds (unlike Gilkeys rough welds) and an independant lift rail.
