Re: softlite -tilt out mechanism breaking?
Yes, there was a problem with the night vent latches this late winter/early spring. I had a couple orders where I had to switch them out with new ones. I haven't had any break since so I'm assuming they ditched that batch of latches from their supplier. Ok, but I have heard the following things, th...

Re: What would you do if your potential installer ... ?
I just felt like I had to clear the air here.... Balt Siding & Window guy's BBB card was from 1997. That's when he was recommended. I asked the BBB if this was an old practice they discontinued but haven't heard back. In any event, this guy has been pretty good to me, & the one lady whose ho...

Sky, What are the issues with Super Spacer, since you said there are as many issues as w/intercept?

Re: softlite -tilt out mechanism breaking?
Ok, I have been going round and round on this w/2 potential installers -one who sells Softlite the other, obviously, who does not. The guy who does not sell Softlite keeps telling me that other companies have stopped carrying Softlite because of this issue w/the "tilt out mech breaking"......

Re: EXPERTS- Question on Seal failure
Sky.D, I have been reading the forums .... :) .... & i have read alot on Super spacer superiority to Intercept because of leakage rates up to 17% with Intercept. Since I have to pay about $250 more to add SuperSpacer to my Softlite LS windows which come w/Intercept standard, I want to know if I ...

I was considering vinyl at this point because I was already planning on going w/Softlite. However, I originally considered clad wood interior, fiberglass.

Me again, the Impervia guy is now telling me....... That Fred the measurment man for his comp who does independent work said he was having a lot of probs w/the tilt out mechanism breaking on the Softlite windows. He couldn't tell me who Fred has worked for that can attest nor the name of the other c...

Re: vinyl windows /wood sill
The wrap the wood in vinyl comment was for the interior. I just don't know it it would look wierd having vinyl windows in a wood frame w/a wood sill. For now, I think I will just do that & see how it looks (since woodgrain is $900 more & I might upgrade spacers) & if I hate it, I could a...

Re: replacement windows in md
What about the basements? That was my main concern. How much would you think a decent basement window should run? I am concerned about about security, then performance there (also ease of cleaning), but not really aesthetics so much-as long as they aren't hideous.

Re: replacement windows in md
This is what is included in the price for the Softlite LS. Please tell me if you think this quote seems high. Thanks. The quote for the 12 double-hung windows and 1 picture window using the Imperial LS window was a list price of $7184.00 less 20% = $5747.00. We had the same promotion of $100.00 off ...
