Re: Himark 1000 vs 800dx differences?

I don't want to appear as an manufacturer's apologist here because they aren't perfect either, but all of what you are laying at their feet has nothing to do with them. Price hikes...well...welcome to the new economy. I have no fewer than 500 emails in my own industry. They don't have anything to do...

Re: alside mezzo

My question for you is why would you think that it would be any different? Tigers generally don't change their stripes, and while Alside generally offers pretty good customer service, the quality control and quantity of service items that I've experienced with that brand is far worse than the highe...

Is there an electronic version of this brochure online anywhere?

I would love to see it.

Re: Alside windows & window World

Tommy, im sure if you look a little, you will see a bad job on much more expensive windows, its not just a WW thang!!!! Rich, I certainly hope that is not your justification (i.e. because someone else does a bad job it is okay for Window World)? My issue with this job is not so much on the workmans...

Re: Alside windows & window World

Ha, now were getting to the real jealousy!! Did anyone notice,...its the competition thats crying foul! Rich, I am not the competition in this case. I was not contracted to do this person's windows. I was doing this inspection as part of a survey for a homeowner and was taken aback by the condition...

Rich, You are absolutely right about the quality. These look like really quality units and an even better install. Re: Alside windows & window World

I see alot of jealousy in some comments concerning alside windows, especially concerning window world that I would like to make a comment or two on. First of all keep in mind that a window is like ordering a new car, you can have the standard stereo or you can option the high end stereo etc, its th...

Re: Would Appreciate Gorell Update

The installing company told me that they offer a warranty on my windows. According to my paperwork it is not lifetime. They assured me that they will work with me, should anything break. Of course, that is a verbal statement. I do feel comfortable with this company since they have been in business ...

Re: Would Appreciate Gorell Update

I hope you are right about the installation company eating some of the warranty. The reality is that they may not be able to accept that expense if they were one of the customers that got batches of bad glass. That is the way that the transfer worked. Soft-Lite was very clearly excused from any of t...

Re: Would Appreciate Gorell Update

This is bad news. I have heard about this and am concerned that Soft-Lite is not going to be honoring warranties on past Gorell products. Apparently they are only buying the assets and not the liabilities in this case. I know of a past Gorell dealer than is doing close to $100,000 in business with t...

Re: Replacement windows for old, drafty rental property

Given that installation details will be about the same regardless of window manufacturer, the relatively small price difference materials should not make or break a project. This is why consumers would be well served to go with a nicer window (i.e. Simontons are widely distributed and available) reg...

Re: Replacement windows for old, drafty rental property

All of the above Responses are correct: in addition to insulating the sash pockets, it's important to make sure that the Casing on the inside of the windows are sealed against the walls -- often, this gets pulled away when the original windows are taken out. One of the windows that you mentioned, A...
