schuco

Wow for a window that doesn't stand out much more than any other performance grade window, you guys sure do suck Schuco off quite a bit.
But this board isn't biased.

better

uPVC is better becasue it keeps it's luster longer. It is not 200.00 better though. I assure you that going with a better window and warranty will pay dividends in the future.

?????

The quality will suffer at 400.00 a window in my opinion. 275.00 is just ou tof the question. There is a big difference between a heat fusion weld and a spot weld also. There is no such thing as a window that is less than 400.00 installed that is heat fusion welded in the frame and sash. Usually the...

I agree.... Both good. The only thing Gorell may have is that they have the Energy star partner of the year for the 3rd year again this year. Installation is the key.

Gorell

Gorell is a much better window in my opinion. I would go with the Gorell in my house. They just won the national Energy Star partner of the year again for the 3rd year in a row.

Schuco defects

Dballs, Just call the company who sold you the windows and tell them what the problem is. If Schuco is as good as everyone on this site thinks they are, then you should have no problem getting them replaced free of charge. If the company who sold them to you has a decent labor warranty than you shou...

Model Home

The "Model Home Pitch" is highly unethical, but is also illegal in some states. You can check that out by logging on to certain state websites disclosing their laws and statutes online. Sorry I caught you in a bad mood, but why so abrasive?

Retraction

To correct my last statement about the ES Partner of the year. Alside won the award when they were giving out more than one award in the U.S. per year. Each region received an award in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Gorell is the only window manufacturer to win the award two consecutive years since the gover...

Alside

I was wrong about Alside! Please forgive me. The only reason I posted is because all the posters were out of state and I wanted to be as objective as possible. After careful consideration of many windows, I chose Gorell for my home. Gorell has a wonderful u-value and has saved me and average of 120....

Gorell

Gorell, as far as I'm aware has no replacement or upgrade of the 5300 series. My guess is that the potential contractor has the 5100 series. When saying the glass is thicker, he/she may have been refering to the polyvinyl butyral armor glass. Some companies have private label Gorell windows and his ...

This is a great price for a Gorell window. The MODEL HOME pitch is illegal and that is what gives this industry a bad name. There is no upgrade to the 5300 series window. If they use aluminum capping they are cutting corners. They are probably using the 5100 series for that price. Be wary of what yo...

Gorell5300 series

As a dealer of Gorell Products (no, that isn't the only manufacturer I work with), I highly advocate the use of these products. As a customer of Gorell products I can say the same. The reason that Gorell uses foam filled framing is simply this: 1. Polystyrene (styrofoam) is a wonderful insulator of ...
