Re: Brickmould 600 and vinyl siding trim
The window should have an integrated J all the way around if I am not mistaken. Thanks for the reply WoW, much appreciated! Most likely you're correct. They do state in the window features list that for "Install Method" the standard feature is "Nailing Fin w/Brickmould J-Channel"...

Brickmould 600 and vinyl siding trim
Going to be installing Monogram 46 around some Brickmould 600's. Should I expect to use the brickmould alone as the channel for the siding at the header and jams while at the sill an under-sill (or utility) trim would be used for attachment?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Bill ! Apologize for not following up sooner. I never did get in touch with the Simonton rep as fate stepped in. Over the course of that long weekend I bumped into someone that worked at a "nearly" local supply house and had excellent knowledge of the product. He understood exactly...

Thanks Bill! Will call the middle of next week.Bill wrote:Golem:
Call Simonton and ask them to have Bob Wolff call you, he is my sales rep and he lives in Maryland so he would cover your area. He should be able to get this done.
Don't call until Tuesday so I can give him the heads up.

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
I'm not really sure what it is you are having difficulty with... ...No offense, but it almost sounds like you are making this more difficult than it really is. No offense taken. I really wish it were simply a matter of me over-complicating it. Seriously, the first company (who's attempting to convi...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Ok guys, I'd like to offer up a proposition. I'm at wits end in my effort to order these windows. As mentioned before, one local supply house admits to not knowing much about the windows nor the ordering options, the other simply doesn't care to be helpful in addition to trying to persuade me to con...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Thanks Bill, that info is priceless, well, not priceless but...it will save me quite a few $$$$. That darn Supercept is one of the things convincing me the supply house salesman wasn't up to snuff. I tried incessantly to explain to him I wanted a single coat with an upgrade to Supercept to ga...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Hah! You've got me pegged. I'm confident in my skills but knowing HOW to apply them is the determiner. I've researched window and siding install procedures so much and for so long now that I wish it were earlier in the season than it is. Would allow me to take a brain-break before delving in. Guess ...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Thanks for the reply HomeSealed!
Yeah, pretty much why I'm attempting to "certify" myself knowledge-wise as a Simonton officionado. I'll spec my needs completely and simply plop a materials list on the counter and say "Fill it please.".

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Instead of starting additional threads I'll continue my knowledge picking here. Had a chance to get to the building supply company today and their windows sales specialist quickly suggested ViWinco Edgemont series and asked why I seemed set on Simonton 5050/5500. The reason for asking was based on t...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Appreciate the follow-up Bill ! The Simonton's are so configurable option-wise that it looks like it's down to aesthetics (all warranties will outlive my ownership). Btw, I also found on this forum more than enough info to discern the pros and cons of sloped vs. stepped so all my unknowns are now kn...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Thanks again Bill ! That info will allow me to be much better informed come Monday...probably better informed than any of the sales people I'll be dealing with at the supply house. That said, I'm guessing you must be supplied with contractor-only data. I could only dig up a 5500 Thermal Data Chart w...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Much appreciate the reply Bill ! That info is great. Good to know that dropping one coated pane while upgrading only the spacer in the 5050 will allow for ETC qualification. I really am mind-set on a brighter single pane coating. I also do recall seeing a few suggestions that the extruded is superio...

Re: Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
Thanks for the reply WoW , all very useful info! I'd like to concentrate my next questions on Simonton windows, the differences between the Reflections series to be specific. Since Simonton's site doesn't seem to have a comparison grid and additionally chooses to overview each models features differ...

Simonton or ??? -- Plus window options questions
I'm preparing to self-install 14 window and 2 patio doors and am really leaning toward Simonton if for nothing else but the generally favorable reviews. Simply looking for a mid-grade product, one that should still look good after 5 years of use considering I'll probably be moving in 3. Barring my b...
