Re: Need to match old aluminum style
Are you looking for the appearance of the aluminum frame, or the color?

Re: My HD Simonton Journey
What happens if the measurements are different from each others?
I know some do it, not knocking it, I just prefer my sales people know how to measure standard windows.

Re: Advice on selecting Gorell 5100
Lowe's will typically quote the 3000 series and he may be quoting the 6000 series.
Personally, I don't think there is much quality difference between the series.

Re: My HD Simonton Journey
I'm still interested in this: "-The windows will be installed by licensed, insured, certified and bonded sub contractor." Especially the bonded part. I also never understood the double measure. The only time I've sent someone else out to measure was because I was unavailable at the time. I...

Re: My HD Simonton Journey
First, I won't say you will have a bad install at all. Decent Price, good product and Everyone above is right, it is more about who shows up. Oh, and I've never seen a "licensed, insured, certified and bonded sub contractor" from Home Depotp except for Roofing, electrical, Plumbing and HVA...

Re: Advice on selecting Gorell 5100
I think the Gorell 5100 is a better window than the Simonton 5050, Atrium an Alside (WW) windows. One question though, make sure that all your windows that you are looking at meet the DP50, as Atriums normally don't and the others are size specific. I don't think the 5100 does normally and needs to ...

Re: slocomb windstopper double hung, any good?
There are some Pro's on here who use them.
I believe they are good windows. I don't know anything about their series. I'm sure someone can/will chime in about sunrise.

Re: slocomb windstopper double hung, any good?
I'm sure its because no one may have heard of Slocomb. I looked on their website and I wasn't too impressed. There windblock (the only one that came close to the windstopper name), looks boxy and generic with "stuffed" insulation (it was pink under the 144 series). The head of the window w...

Well I did have a button, but leave it to ABC to screw that all up.

Re: Please HELP.. Need windows installation quesstion
Thanks for all your replies.....I still confused by some of the remarks given. Here is the problem.. I have a home depot rep going today at 5:00 to go over the issue. I want to explain to him the installation job has horrible. But I obviously need to know what I am talking about. A few things were ...

Re: Need help replacing basement windows w/ sliding vinyl?
Typical for us in block houses here, is to measure block to block and then take a 1/4" off of the smallest measure (Aluminum Frame out). That would be if you are going to mount without furring strips. If you are going to use furring strips then take that into account for your measurments. If yo...

Re: Please HELP.. Need windows installation quesstion
Ok, so I don't agree with that install in most any way. The caulking looks like they tooled it with the biggest blade possible. Drilling and foaming from the frame is a no, no. I'd actually call Simonton and complain to them about the job and Home Depot.

Re: Vinyl replacement windows
Edit: Got it. I will be in touch.
It should work, but you may have to do it again. It should tell you that I am the one in the area.
The problem is that the service is not that reliable and I've had problems with it a lot.

Re: Vinyl replacement windows
I put some sizes in and I would assume that they are mixed up somewhere.
a 36 x 60 2360 with Sound and Security would probably be around that price.
But in an impact, seems off. Way off if its for the 36x60

Re: Vinyl replacement windows
Just got a quote for the PGT 2360 with the sound and security package. I am waiting for a call from the salesman to confirm the price. The price difference between the impact window and the sound and security glass is only $8 difference. I cannot believe that they would ever sell the sound glass if...
