Re: Over-the-sill Interior Installation

The contractor also suggests "frame jump" + "stucco fin" install considering we have stucco siding. We are not sure if it's better or worse. Is it same as "over-the-sill"?

Over-the-sill Interior Installation

Thanks so much for everyone's help during the past months in researching various products. I'm now signed up with a company to replace my windows with Milgard Stylelines, so it's time to talk about installation methods, etc. We are retrofitting some of the windows on top of the existing frames and u...

Re: SolarBan vs. Low-E coating

Forgot to say, another reason he put out is comparing to SunCoatMax, SunCoat has higher VLT value which probably weigh more in NorthWest area with less sun. Superior W&D, do you have something to say about it?

Re: SolarBan vs. Low-E coating

The salesman said SunCoatMax has a tint while SunCoat doesn't. So he suggests the latter. Somehow they told me it still meet the tax credit criteria. Does it sound right to you?

Re: SolarBan vs. Low-E coating

I wish I were a cyber fairy  But if I'm allowed to explain - we plan to have two different companies do the IGU and frame window projects because of the price, besides some company is not willing to do IGU glass replacement. They'd rather replace the whole thing with framed picture windows. Fo...

SolarBan vs. Low-E coating

Put them side by side, is it going to be obviously different, appearance wise? We are planning on using SolarBan glass on most of the windows. But some of the IGU's are said to be Low-E. We don't want them to look very different if they are side by side, in our case, IGU on the top and frame windows...

Re: VPI window - anyone heard of it?

SuperiorW&D, not sure what's wrong asking questions. This is a forum for people to ask questions and for those knowledgeable to answer them right? Or is there a number of limit somebody set up that I'm not aware of. Anyways, if you read carefully, I've answered your question in my posts.

Re: VPI window - anyone heard of it?

Digged more, is AL=air leakage? DP=dew point? What are the preferred numbers for both?
SuperiorW&D, do you have experience with this product?

Re: VPI window - anyone heard of it?

Randy, for my information, could you explain what are AL and DP? The windows offered by Washington Energy Service is said to customize made to the standard WES set up with VPI. The window series quoted is "signature": Washington Energy “S-Series” Solarban® 70xl Glazing Argon Super Spacer® ...

Re: Pella window - Lowe's or local window company?

Thanks for letting me know. I won't anymore.

I did take time to read the board rule just now which I should have earlier. Maybe I didn't look at the right spot, but I didn't see the rule about the link.

Re: VPI window - anyone heard of it?

Sorry... thought maybe other window buyers would know if I asked in more than one thread because it's not well known. :( We kind of need to make a decision soon. I'll hold off my fingers then.

Re: Pella window - Lowe's or local window company?

Thanks Carpenter and HS! I just had another quote. They sell/install a product called VPI window.

We've never heard of it but it seems to be very energy efficient according to the numbers they showed us. Have you guys heard of it?
