Re: Quote feedback requested: Sunrise, Kensington HPP, Alside

Its easy to get information overload, but I promise, you will be much better off having educated yourself about this investment. I'd wait for the Softlite quote to come in, that may offer some additional perspective on pricing. A couple additional thoughts, I'd be careful about putting much weight o...

Re: Quote feedback requested: Sunrise, Kensington HPP, Alside

Seth, where are you located? At this point, I personally don't love any of the options and I wonder if some of the info may be incorrect. The Mezzo does not get a .22 u factor unless that is upgraded to triple pane. The Kensington gets better than a .26 with heat mirror if I'm not mistaken. All of t...

Re: Future of Starmark and stuck in window limbo

There are some transitions in process (product updates) on that line as far as I know, however some of the other information that you have been given seems to be erroneous. I wonder if the dealer that you used may be having some issues... Either way, please do reach out to Eric (WoW) and I'm sure th...

Re: Quote advice-Berkshire Elite, Provia, Soft-lite

Despite the small spread in thermals, I would say that quality difference justifies the cost based on my experience with both products. You should be able to expect decades of relatively problem free performance from the SL, while the Berkshire would be less likely to offer that.

Re: Quote advice-Berkshire Elite, Provia, Soft-lite

Triple pane would be a wise choice for Kansas, although I'd take the better window with double pane over an inferior product with triple pane. Its not unreasonable IMO to expect higher end quality products to more than double the service life of lower end stuff, so that really needs to be accounted ...

Re: Am I Going Insane?

Sorry if I come off as not listening, I was simply trying to determine why my perception of prices and the reality of prices are so disconnected. Through more research and what you guys are telling me, the disconnect happens due to a few things: 1. Full Frame replacements add 20-25% to the cost of ...

Re: Am I Going Insane?

Ironically after posting that, I just opened this email from a major national supplier... May 22, 2018 To Our Valued Customer, We have begun receiving a third round of price increases from our suppliers. The key drivers behind these most recent increases continue to be higher raw material costs and ...

Re: Am I Going Insane?

While discounts are the "name of the game" to some degree, I think we are all in agreement that starting at $60k and cutting the price in half is excessive. The other guys seem like a better bet for a very good product, and the fact that your Dad worked with them and had a good experience should mak...

Re: Am I Going Insane?

Good info here. Here are a little more details. The first quote (custom Sunrise window) is for full-frame replacement. The second quote (Soft-Lite) is for basic replacement (not full frame). We have cedar siding but it shouldn't be majorly impacted by the install. Also, basic white for the interior...

Re: Am I Going Insane?

seabiscuit, the 62" windows are pretty tall. Are those in need of tempered glass by chance (proximity to the floor less than 18" and glass size over 9 sq ft)? That can drive price up...What about the installation detail? Full frame or pocket? New interior woodwork? Woodgrain interior? Color exterior...

Re: Window installation warranty question

Warranties are often just a sales tool, there are many more important things then warranty to consider 1st.Take a look at the warranties through out any industry and you will see that warranties often have nothing to do with longevity, quality, or reliability . Warranties most certainly ARE a sales...

Re: Window installation warranty question

I'd personally not consider an installation warranty less than 10 years. I agree that most installation issues tend to pop up within the first year, but not all. Keep in mind, you will almost certainly pay more for a company with a longer workmanship warranty. There is a saying in this industry : Co...

Re: Starmark vs Polaris vs Okna 800

Not sure if original poster's get pinged on this, so Raul may or may not post back. Either way, I just want to confirm that you are winning either way Lindsey. Those two windows are both top tier performers. Like mentioned earlier, the 800 is a little better and most would agree prettier, so if you ...

Re: Milgard Tuscany VS PlyGem 200

I'd agree that installing a window with a cracked frame is generally not advisable. Cracked sash or even glass are not a huge concern as they can be swapped easily, but a frame requires a full reinstall. If this thing is going to be embedded in stucco and drywall, you would definitely want the swap ...
