I just have every window in the house replaced with Okna 500 delux(full review coming soon) however did not have these 2 replaced becuse in 5 to 7 years I plan o...

Stickers

I know this is a bit random, but my installer left most of the stickers on the window glass and wondered whats best practise for gettin them off. Some windows already have residue from the big stickers they removed. I was thinking heat gun, windex, wd40, razor blade, but did not want to damage the w...

see here --> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3866

I was between the Verde and the Okna 500. The numbers were close and The Verde came with self cleaning glass. I decided to go with the Oknas because they were 1000 cheaper

Re: Need advice in deciding on replacement windows for northeast

I just signed my contract last week for replacement windows. After researching since december it looks like you are on the right path. In my opinion finding an installer you are comfortable with is more important than the window as long as you keep withing the brands you listed. I have seen almost a...

Re: Okna 500 Inslu-tec delux or Verde by sunrise(final decision)

WOW could you explain your reasoning for triple pane on the north, east, and west but NOT the south sides of the house? I think im pretty much sold on the OKNA 500 insul tex deluxe package but now im not sure about the double pane to triple pane. If I am droping U factor from .25 to .19 am I going t...

Re: Okna 500 Inslu-tec delux or Verde by sunrise(final decision)

I never realy considered triple pane, I just always thought them to be too expensive. to elaborate on my situation a bit I am a first time home buyer and the 8000 tax credit is going right back into windows. I plan on living in this house for many many years to come so I wanted to get a "lifeti...

Re: Soft-Lite Elements vs. Great View (Vytex) vs. Okna 500

You will loose about 2" or viewable glass and about 8% less light when you compare the LS to the 500 though. Everything is a compromise and some people don't like the idea of bulky frame. WOW I know this is a bit old but I am in the same boat. in your quote above do you mean to say that the OK...

Okna 500 Inslu-tec delux or Verde by sunrise(final decision)

Alright, so after weeks of research and every shady sales tactic under the sun I think I am ready to make a decision. I found a 30yr plus 3rd generation family owned business that has actually been reviewed on this board a few times. My quotes are for 18 DH with beveled grids (6 over 0) and 2 4x4 pi...

Re: New Homeowner Shopping for Windows

My advice is be patient. Im in the same boat as you are right now and its no fun. It feels worse than buying a used car. What has helped me thus far during the process is knowing what I want before I talk to anyone else, and keeping a tick sheet so to speak of what I liked and didnt like about the p...
