Re: Window installation warranty question

Warranties are often just a sales tool, there are many more important things then warranty to consider 1st.Take a look at the warranties through out any industry and you will see that warranties often have nothing to do with longevity, quality, or reliability .

Re: Replacement Windows- Please Help! Sunrise vs. MI

That price is very low, Window World does like to add add-on cost for everything to keep there base price low and are not known for there quality. Details are very important especially in a full frame install.

Re: Window quote opinions

The pricing is very fair, sounds like you’ll appreciate a quality window.

Re: Okna with PVC trim?

These would be great questions to ask your installer?
There would be no performance benefit. Adding brick mold typically does not reduce glass size since it would sit against the sheathing .

Re: Provia vs Sunrise

I’d say 2 or 3 with the Provia. The Sunrise is prone to sagging until they put reinforcement in all the rails, sills and headers.

Re: Large picture window glass flex

The elasticity of Glass does not change with tempering, it flexes the same amount as annealed glass if the thickness is the same. I’m no expert on glass but it took me less then a minute to google the answer, hate it when people try to blow smoke where it doesn’t belong.

Re: Window quote opinions

Are the install methods the same for each bid? What are the details of install? 8 years is short time and money wise probably makes sense with the Simonton, the longer you stay the Okna is a good bet. In my old house I went with a cheaper line because I was moving because it would not make financial...

Re: Large picture window glass flex

It seems odd they would use thinner glass for tempered, most tend to go heavier if anything. Perhaps ask them hat the tolerance is for deflection in there glass packs.

Re: Casement window questions

Soft-Lite uses the same window through all there lines in the casements. There will be differences in the glass packages, foam enhancements, and maybe the weatherstripping. The Sunrise compare very well and are perhaps prettier. You probably don’t need to meet current egress code but I would double c...

Re: Provia vs Sunrise

Not sure which one it is , but. I can’t see them being much different since they all use the same frame and sashes I believe. I think the only difference would be the restoration would be less prone to sagging at the meeting rails on the sashes which does not prevent the other areas of sashes saggin...

Re: Provia vs Sunrise

The way they install could be perceived as issue or just minor nuisance, it’s a matter of perspective. I really have no problem screwing down a sill, the real headache for me is the service calls for sagging sashes, or lift rails popping out. If I didn’t install th that’s great , I either make money...

Re: Provia vs Sunrise

I think the frame is flimsy as well as the sashes. Reinforcement is only on the meeting rails , which does prevent the sashes from sag anywhere else. Do not like the lift rail incorporated with glazing bead, do not like the lack of interlock at the meeting rails. I don’t think there air infiltration...

Re: Provia vs Sunrise

I would take the ProVia hands down if these are double hungs. The Sunrise is underbuilt/poorly designed IMO.

Re: Milgard Tuscany VS PlyGem 200

Installing a window with a cracked frame is a bad decision. Might not have a problem If the crack was in the nail fun only. I would hold up payment till it is addressed.

Re: Austin area - many questions about replacement windows (long)

It is nice to install the windows as you're doing the siding with windows with nailing fins, the system needs to be tied together.
