Re: Steel Lintels

Thanks for the input guys. I have always leaned toward not covering them and have even offered to wire brush and paint them with a coat of rustoleum for the customer. One of my guys just loves to cap them because of the looks...but leave weep holes for sure.

Steel Lintels

On a pocket install in a brick home are you capping the steel lintels or leaving exposed? I have done both but leave weep holes when required on the top of the coil bend as to not trap water at the lintel.

Re: Install Question

How do you guys insulate the weight pockets? This can be tricky and difficult. Shoving fiberglass into the pockets or injecting with low expansion foam...both seem like they could have their limits and issues and how much does it really help. I have done both but I sometimes wonder if you inject the...

Re: Getting estimates on windows this week, lots of questions

What upgrades on the LS? I would choose the infinity first, then maybe LS depending on options, then Element and Sunrise last with all pricing being equal. What are your basis for recommending Infinity first? And why recommend the Soft-Lite LS with upgrades and then say the Soft-Lite Elements Last-...

Re: Anderson vs Provia replacement windows

The poster may be referring to the Provia new composite window. I believe the model is called Aeris CX900. The website describes it as a thermoplastic resin. I am surprised a dealer could offer both Andersen and Provia Composites. I though Provia wanted a exclusive committment to carry this new mode...

Re: Replacement Window Help in St. Louis Area

Try researching some of the brands that the pros recommend on here. I think you can do better than what you have looked at so far. I believe the Dalco window has a reverse pocket sill which I do not like at all (Dalco is also known as Target Windows and Doors). Also check and see if the windows you ...

Re: Windows in St. Peters, MO

If you really like one window over the other why woudn't you recommend the one you feel is the best. You may recommend more than one window and you may also carry/install those other brands as well or at least a couple of them. I don't understand why you thinks it is spam. I also Like the Integrta w...

Re: Windows in St. Peters, MO

MY Criteria: Have you seen the air infiltration numbers on the Soft-Lite Windows? The air infiltration number on the Elements is .01 CFM. That is the best that I have seen. The DP rating is very good also. The Bainbridge and Barrington also have decent numbers at a lower price point. They also have ...
