Re: Install Pricing

... With Marvin's Infinity window, only ONE dealer per region is licensed to sell and install it; ... Is this true everywhere? In my neck of the woods (Boston area), when I was looking I called a couple of the retailers listed on the Infinity web site for MA, and they gave me a price for just the I...

The Infinity seems pretty solid to me. I think they will last. There were several things that really sold me on the Infinity: - narrow rails; I have smallish windows (31x48), using fiberglass gave me about 15% more glass per window - integrated tilt mechanism; having it built into the lock mechanism...

I put Infinities in my house and I like them. The warrantee doesn't worry me too much because I seriously doubt I'll be in this house in 20 years.

There used to be a how-to-install-windows DVD called "Replacement Windows Made Easy!" available through this web site, I don't know if it still is. I briefly considered DIY, see this thread for all the reasons I ultimately decided against it: http://www.vinyl-replacement-windows.com/forum/...

Comfort Line fiberglass windows (http://www.fiberframe.com/new/site.php?data=010) offers 4 standard colors - white, almond, cobblestone (looks greyish) and bronze (looks like brown). They also offer something like 1200 different colors as a custom option. I didn't look at them too closely because my...

"the California DOE projected that changing every window in the state from "clear" glass to LowE (and NO other changes - just the windows) would result in statewide energy savings equivalent to THREE new electrical power plants over the next 15 years...at a total cost to change every ...

Marvin makes a fiberglass window (the Infinity) which has "bronze" as an exterior color choice. It looks pretty dark brown to me. http://www.infinitywindows.com There's another fiberglass window company called FiberFrame which offers the ComfortLine window, which also has a "bronze&qu...

Since NE Sash is the only company who can sell you Schuco's in the Boston area, they can call your bluff because there is nowhere else to go if you really want Schuco's. Search here and on the other site for NE Sash or New England Sash, you may decide to re-evaluate whether you want to do business w...

My advice would be: 1) spend at least 6 hours on this board and it's sister (www.replacement-windows.com) reading old posts and using the search engine to find posts on any term or window product you don't understand 2) ask friends/family in your area for a window company they've used and felt they ...

If you have them come to your house, be prepared for a hard sell, and lots of games like phony discounts and "this price only if you sign right now" shenanigans. Also, be aware that their "energy savings pledge" isn't worth the paper it is printed on. It has a huge list of condit...

Re: Adersen Renewal Replacment windows

Hi, I just had an in-home consultation regarding Andersen's Renewal windows. I'm still in sticker shock. 1,100.00 per window. Does anyone have an opinion, good or bad,. Thanks! RDH They gave me a pretty hard sell, which I didn't appreciate. For me they started at $1400/window and then started comin...

Marvin's website lists all their distributors, you can look up one in your area an call them. I think most companies you are interested in list their distirbutors on their web site. Just as one data point, I got a quote on a Marvin Infinity fiberglass window from a distributor in the Boston area, fo...

Unless your home is historically or architecturally important, IMO I don't think you have to keep wood windows. If you like the look and the price of the vinyl windows, go for it. If your windows are narrow, or you don't like the width of the vinyl parts, consider fiberglass windows - it is a little...
