Re: Feedback on quote in Northern Virginia

I used Windows on Washington several years ago, and would tell you to definitely give them a shot. I have been very pleased with the service and product. It was a no-pressure process.

Re: $700 per window for Champion Windows?

So if I walk into a car dealership and I wanted to buy a Ford Fiesta and the guy priced it to me at $25,000, but would sell it to me for $20,000 if I agreed to buy it on the spot and not check around other dealers, you wouldn't find that questionable? The Soft-Lites and Oknas can be had for less tha...

Re: Gorell Quote

If you do a search on Gorrell, you'd find about 1,000,000 very positive threads concerning Gorrell.

Around here, seems that Gorrell, Softlite, Okna and Sunrise are all favorites.

Re: replacement windows: farley vs alside excalibur

I would recommend contacting OKNA, Softlite, Gorrell and Sunrise directly to find out who your local rep is. Start on the websites, and call their 1-800 number for the contacts. Should take you about 24 hours to get info from all four window manufacturers. I have found that using their email forms g...

Re: ReliaBilt by Atrium

Ron, Chantilly seems to be the home of every window installer in Northern Virginia. For the same price, or lower, than you quoted, you WILL do better. You should stop in to check on Windows on Washington (Okna), NOVA Windows (Soft-Lite), The Window Man (Soft-Lite also), AN Exteriors (Simonton), and ...

Re: Silverline vs Atrium

I don't drive a truck. I'm Chinese and I wear lots of jewelry. See how warped your preceptions are from behind your keyboard? You are wrong about everything else you think too.  Ecostar, did you dream up the part about the Chinese last night and decide to edit your original response to m...

Re: Silverline vs Atrium

How about just providing some constructive feedback? No one is expecting you to provide any shoulders to cry on. You are a contractor, you should be able to provide constructive assistance. Troubleshooting, that's what you are supposed to be good at. Anyone can sit back point fingers and play Monday...

Re: Silverline vs Atrium

I have to agree with the other two, EcoStar, are you really getting that much satisfaction by kicking someone who is down? Everyone makes mistakes, I think the OP knows that now. I don't think the response was really necessary or professional. I guess you've never made a decision that you ended up r...

Re: Soft-Lite Imperial LS vs Okna 500 vs Okna 800

I think this is where YOU come to the end of the line. No one can tell you what aesthetics are worth. To some, it would easily cover the $1,000 premium, or $77 per window. To others, $100 wouldn't be worth it.

What kind of person are you?

Re: Replacement Window Recommendations

Hey SweetLew,

Can you tell me what the price differences between your estimates were for SoftLite, OKNA and Sunrise.

Percentages will work fine. I don't need actual numbers.

Re: Soft-Lite Imperial LS vs Okna 500 vs Okna 800

I believe you're getting an extra 1/4" on each side of the window compared to a standard window, so that's a total of 1/2" extra glass. I believe the Imperial LS is thicker than the standard window. I believe it's closer to 3-3/4", so you'll be getting 1-1/2" more? I'm pretty sur...

How did Sunrise compare in pricing, relative to the other three?

I didn't get a chance to check them out.

Re: Soft-Lite Imperial LS vs Okna 500 vs Okna 800

I vote Okna 500. I think they look much better than the Imperial LS. Enough to warrant a $500 premium. (I don't suppose you could call the contractor and ask him if he'd be willing to do it for $500 less to even this thing out) I wouldn't do the 800. There isn't enough of an upgrade to add $1,000 to...

Re: Drowning in a sea of casement windows!

I really wish Sunrise would upgrade their webpage.

It's very vague and doesn't have any product specific information or pictures.

I guess I'll have to call them and find out who the rep is in my area (Northern Virginia) and stop by a showroom.
