Window Installation: Spray Foam
In considering window contractors, is it considered a "red flag" if a contractor indicates they do not use spray foam on their installs and prefer batt insulation? THanks.

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
Sorry to resurrect this. Can anyone comments on how the Okna Elegante compares to the Marvin Sliding Patio/French Doors? Both in price and performance? I notice that Marvin doesnt have internal blinds, but it seems you can get a custom fit shade to over the door that looks nice as well. Thanks.

Rusting Lintels
I am going to proceed with a home window replacement project and thought before that it might be good for me to repaint the lintels on my brick home. They are not overly rusty but some rust is starting to show through the white paint that is currently on the lintels. What would be the proper procedu...

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
Is there any reason or advantage to upgrading rollers in non-coastal (i.e. eastern pa) applications?

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
Ok I've officially spent way too much time researching patio doors. Seems like in some places I see the Elegante referenced as a 5600 model but in other places I see references to an 8800 model. Are there different models or are these the same door. Also one other site seemed to reference that you c...

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
Thanks. I tried to call Okna to see if I could get a sense of how much of a performance hit there would be on the models with the mini blinds due to the no argon gas. They didnt have test numbers for that model so couldnt give me a definitive answer.

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
What type of mechanism does Okna use to operate the internal blinds - it is not quite clear based on my online research. I have seen several posts where people say to avoid magnetic rope operators. Does Okna use such a mechanism? Also, I assume in addition to fully going up and down, the blinds woul...

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
I want to thank everyone for their wealth of information. As someone who likes to learn as much as possible about a product before purchase this forum is a wealth of information. One last question (hopefully) regarding the sliders with internal blinds. I have seen people say both Okna and Sunrise ar...

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
Good to hear. I assume Okna's warranty would cover the internal blinds as well?

Re: Sliding Patio Door w/ Integrated Blinds
Is the lack of argon glass in the Okna Slider w/ integrated blinds a big concern (in eastern PA). I assume the doors still have coatings? Is this a reason to steer away from internal blinds.

Re: Slider or Dual Casement in front of Kitchen Sink?
Wayne, Thank you for the suggestion. I will consider that as well. At this point, I think I am probably just leaning toward a slider (or maybe even a DH which my wife seems to like). There is a walkway in front of my kitchen window so I'm concerned if an awning or casement is opened, someone could r...
