Windows or Door

First off, my house is freezing. I have poor windows that condensate inside everytime it's cold. They are a little over 20 yrs old, so I am guessing no argon or Low-E. But.....my front entry door is actually warped at the top. And you can see light coming in from the top left top and side. And the c...

Some vinyl windows may become distorted, warped, or bow in heat that high.

You may want to look at a Fiberglass window or wood w/ aluminum cladding window, that has a good glass package.

Dark colored vinyl's have not great success.

If dark colored vinyl's did have great success many of the large names would be using it, too.

Well, it depends on what area your in. Usually a google search, with "fiberglass windows, your state" is all you need. Yes, longevity is one of the best traits of Fiberglass. It has been used in boats and cars for years, and even bridge support beams and lots of commercial jobs. They will ...

The reason color doesn't stay in vinyl is because of expansion/contraction that breaks down the paint. Fiberglass windows are said to expand and contract roughly 800 times less then vinyl. Because of this, Fiberglass can be painted and last. The Inline Sovereign fiberglass window that we carry has b...

Rest assured that there are certainly pollutants associated with the construction of Fiberglass/composite windows as well. The production of every product has an impact on the environment. It is the product that has the least impact that people are looking for. Also as was stated above, it is a con...

I believe Vinyl would not be considered "green" because of the way it is produced.

Fiberglass is considered "green".

There is some info here.

The Schuco Patio Door is all new and a great design. It is built like a tank, but amazenly slides very easily. Most of the problems that Fenex stated are problems for installers, and come in to affect if you ever need to replace the sash. These are not problems that a customer will incur. (He is rig...

Usually the words Home Depot and "Best Windows" aren't in the same sentence. It's like saying, McDonald's and "Best Burgers". What kind of quality do you expect for $140 or so a window? Shoes cost less then that. And don't forget, installation is 80% of the battle. Even the best ...

Are these new construction?

What kind of windows are they?

You can also hold a candle next to the windows, on the light breeze days and see if anything is coming through. But obviously if you can already feel it coming through, your having problems.

Don't just look at the R-Value.

Look at the U-Value too. The lower the number the better (like golf). And you want a .22 or lower.

Also, don't forget, an INITIAL U-Value might be good.....but some windows dissipate gas over time, and shortly there U-Value is NOT as good as it once was.

Don't just look at the window. Look at the quality of the IG (Insulated Glass) Unit. That is far more likely to fail then the window. Fiberglass is really strong. But ask yourself this: Have you ever seen a window frame or sash actually break???? Whether it is wood, vinyl or fiberglass, I've persona...

Has anyone here recieved their Screens for the new Schuco Tilt & Turns that originally came without them?

And if so, do they retrofit them on to the existing frame?
