Re: Gorell window replacement

Window companies normally dont replace glass unless it was a window they installed and they agreed to warranty.
Calling a residential glass repair company would be your best bet.

Re: Pella 350 vs Okna 800 (What to do?)

The Okna is MUCH better than the pella 350. It designed much better and its much more air tight. Okna is one of the most efficient windows in the industry. Also, as you said, pella uses an outdated/ cheap sill design. Pella is not a premium vinyl window and it certainly is never recommended by the p...

Re: Full Frame Window Replacement from Interior Only?

The Majestic is definitely the better window. The apartment is on the 5th floor, very high off the ground?
Is the exterior brick/ concrete?

Re: Another Sunrise Question

Thank you all for your responses. This board and a couple of others are fantastic resources. One more question: How does the consumer know if the options ordered are actually the options delivered? Without cutting open a frame, how can I tell if it is fully insulated, has fiberglass reinforcements,...

Re: Another Sunrise Question

Elements doesnt have sagging issues at all.
A few negative reviews from a company that has been in business a long time isnt unusual and i wouldnt pay attention to that. Some customers enjoy giving bad reviews. the old 15 minutes of fame thing.

Re: Fortis of Potomac?

The company you are dealing with the dropped vytex and moved to the sunrise vanguard.. i think i know which company that is. The owner seems very knowledgeable and he seems to run a very good business. The vanguard is an excellent window and very nice looking. You seem to be in very good hands.

Re: Fortis of Potomac?

The Potomac is their top tier window. Its a bit more robust than the fortis with a DP 65 rating and magnetic seal.

WindowNerd, why do you say that the Fortis is just good, but that the Potomac is very good? Also, better value - Fortis at $500/window or Potomac at $550/window? By the way, we are replacing 27 windows.
Personally, ive sold both and like both of them. That said, i prefer the Potomac.

Re: Sunrise (base - not essentials) vs Soft-lite Imperial LS

I dont know if i would dismiss a company simply for being a little pushy. A salesman needs to make a living, nothing wrong with that. If they crossed a line, thats different.

Re: Two quotes so far

Provia uses a Deceuninck extrusion whereas polaris does not. Bear in mind, there are a few variations of the Deceuninck design. I have seen at least 3 differemt versions myself, all being somewhat similar but definitely different.

Re: Sunrise (base - not essentials) vs Soft-lite Imperial LS

Between the two, i would have to ho with the Imperial LS based on a more robust design with regards to sldier windows. I think sldier windows , especially larger, should have reinforcement. That said, both are well made.

The Pro-Via Endure is pretty much the same window as the Thermalweld Plus.
No its not. Two totally different windows.
