Re: Relate TDI approved model numbers to mfgr series names

txn, anyone can indeed access the NFRC certified product directory. It is not the easiest site to navigate by any means, but you can access it. You could also ask your salesperson for the CPD number to make the look-up easier. On mfgr literature, generally those that have something to be proud of d...

Re: Relate TDI approved model numbers to mfgr series names

This board is great but it requires lots of superfluous reading and much of the information is sadly outdated, e.g. strong recommendations for Schuco windows and they have not been manufactured for years. These two sister forums are the best resource on the internet for researching replacement wind...

Relate TDI approved model numbers to mfgr series names

TX Dept of Insurance has mfgr's/series info for approved windows but the series numbers do not always appear in the mfgr's literature. Thought the NFRC Certified Product Directory would help but found that homeowners cannot access it; seems shortsighted to me. Please refer me to a site that contains...

Re: how to clean up the lead dust during installation

The whole EPA/RRP thing is government at its worst. Though we comply, the risk of lead poisoning is so small for everyone that it is insane. Thanks for your response. Generally, I agree with your statements that I quoted above. I would like to say more but this is not the place for my political opi...

Re: I need help picking a replacement window

I know this is not the proper place to post my question but I have floundered around the board for over half an hour and did not find a way to contact the board administrator. I did find an "email us" link but it does not do what one expects. My question: Why are some posts undated? It wou...

Re: how to clean up the lead dust during installation

If you have a professional lead test done, with an XRF gun (X-ray fluorescence), the contractor should abide by the result. If he doesn't want to, find another contractor. I will request the XRF gun test. "find another contractor" will be done too but for a different reason. This guy said...

Re: how to clean up the lead dust during installation

I am awaiting a quote but the sales person said old window removal requires hazardous material handling and disposal procedures that "jacks up the installation cost". There are four 6' x 3' windows and 14 smaller windows. My house is in Corpus Christi and it was built in 1977. We purchased...
