Re: Interior Window Trim

Thanks for the information. I had the understanding that the wood-ultrex in the Marvin Integrity could not be ordered without the extension jambs. I may have been misinformed though. I will double check and thanks again for the help!

Interior Window Trim

Greetings again. I wondered if those of you who have done fully tear out of windows where you replace all of the interior trim could weigh in on something. We are getting Marvin Wood-Ultrex windows installed. We can either order them with the jamb extension or not. Currently, our interior trim is th...

Re: Marvin Integrity

I looked at the Inline online a few months ago and called but they have no Ohio dealers or distrib. They said they could ship, but my contractor wasn't comfortable with installing windows with no relationship with mfg. or distributor. Also, in my work, i get concerned when dealing with foreign mfg. ...

Re: Marvin Integrity

Homesealed: We are doing the full tear out, dark bronze exterior, prairie grids. You won't remember the saga from my earlier posts since you see a lot of these, but we are replacing all exterior trim and while we are at it are going to upgrade all of our interior trim (and don't scream) but are goin...

Re: Marvin Integrity

We definitely preferred the lines of the wood-ultrex. The company we were dealing with mentioned the lower maintenance of the all-ultrex (inside). I liked that thought, but wondered if we would be giving up on performance with all-ultrex.

Re: Marvin Integrity

A few things. First off, my wife couldn't get over the looks of the vinyl windows in general. The size of the extrusion surrounding the glass (4" on the soft-lite vs. 2 1/2" on the Marvins, as well as the sheen on the windows she just didn't like and I agree with her (softlite is the brand...

Marvin Integrity

I have posted a few times asking questions about several different lines of windows, and received tremendous guidance from all of the pros that post on here. Thanks to all of you who have responded for taking the time to educate everyone on this and the other sites. To make a long story short, I thi...

Re: Still looking...

I received the written Sunrise quote. It is the Sunrise Patio door 6068. Is this a good one? With respect to the door, a Sunrise dealer that I spoke with sells both Soft-lite and Sunrise. He much prefers the Sunrise patio door, and said he has installed 4 Kingsroyal so far, and was not impressed at ...

Re: Still looking...

I don't know the model number or type of the Sunrise patio door. I have a verbal quote and the written one is being prepared. I should have it later today or tomorrow, and will update with that. One thing that I liked about the Soft-lite window is the Kevlar reinforcement at the meeting rail. Sunris...

Re: Still looking...

Still waiting on the Okna quote, but i will definitely post it once received. One thing I am not seeing on the Sunrise windows is the AI numbers. Do you guys know those by any chance? Does the relative newness (number of years in business) of Okna concern you guys when selecting a window and thinkin...

Re: Still looking...

As suggested by several on here, I have now also quoted the Sunrise window. I have asked for which kind of window is being quoted and the dealer that I am working with has indicated that it is the new construction Sunrise window. I see many references on here to the Restorations and the Vanguard ser...

Re: Still looking...

Glad to hear soft-lite is still solid. Getting Okna quote Monday. Well, since air infil. Is one of our biggest issues, i better stick with top tier. Big question then is how concerned should i be about dark exterior color fading ? 10 year warranty worries me. Is foil better option? Can i repaint if ...

Re: Still looking...

Homesealed, I saw from your previous posts about plygem that you were selling a lot of those back in 2009 - 2010, so if you have time could I please get your thoughts about the quality of the window generally, as well as how well it will do with respect to air infiltration (which is one of my primar...

Re: Still looking...

Got it, thanks for clarifying. The Ply-gem is actually a colored vinyl, meaning a Bronze vinyl all the way through, as opposed to a laminate/paint. I am sure I used the wrong term above. If still not a big difference, that would be good to know. My presumption was that an actual colored vinyl, as op...
