Re: Why against Thermal Industries. Need to make a decision

Drop window=fine. I don't like the drip cap head jamb (I've seen it separate), single strength glass, Intercept, and a barely passable u-value at .30. Fine as a drop window I guess, I just think that it is a product that doesn't belong with the rest of that lineup.

Re: Why against Thermal Industries. Need to make a decision

Genius, madman- TomAto,, tomato, let's call the whole thing off. Even funnier is the charaterization of the Softlite Classic as a decent window. It is lipstick on a pig. If what you mean by "better at what it does" is taking a good name and applying it to a turd product, then yes, it...

Re: Why against Thermal Industries. Need to make a decision

DP ratings an AI numbers can also mislead you. The Soft-Lite Classic for exapmple, is better than many windows out there despite its 0.11 AI and DP35 ratings. That is crazy talk. Despite my issues with the way Softlite conducts business, they have some nice product choices, but the "Classic&qu...

Everyone else  . Those are not top performers compared to some of the better choices out there like Softlite, Sunrise, Okna, etc... Avoid a pocket sill as well.

Re: Soft-Lite Imperial LS vs Clear Choice Signature Casements

I would not want to invest thousands of dollars with a company that could be gone tomorrow. To me, that means anybody that does not have roots meaning either a brick and mortar location, membership in all of the trade and consumer organizations, etc, and/or many years of history in business. I think...

Re: Schuco windows, Thermal industry and Atrium.

I would have to agree with all of the above. The TI product is outdated... and FYI, TI is owned by Atrium if you were not aware.

Re: MI Windows Law Suit

I agree... although the ratings on that product speak for themselves. Not very good. .29 AI on the 1650/Cutting Edge/Certainteed Bryn Mawr if I am not mistaken.

Re: Triple vs. Double - South Facing Side

redsoxmom, I assume that you are located in the northeast? If so, Klemmerbros advice could not be worse. You run your furnace 3/4 of the year, so your windows should reflect that. A moderate shgc is appropo. Triple pane may or nay not be worth it depending on cost (you'll never recoup $100 per windo...
