They don't need help. I meant "afford" from a ROI standpoint. It's a rental property of theirs and we don't believe that it makes much sense to spend a small fortune on the windows. The criteria for selecting replacement windows for this situation is different than if they were purchasing ...

Did go with RBA. Had them installed 3 weeks ago. Couldn't be happier.

This project is for my in-laws. They can't afford RBA or Schuco and will probably be going with a lesser window yet to be determined, but we were wondering what happens to the storms.

I'd be looking at vinyl windows, so out go the storms! Thanks for the quick reply.

Remove Storm Windows?

I'm doing some research for my window replacement project. I haven't contacted anyone yet, but I'm wondering if it's better to keep my storm windows on or have them taken off? Would I get double insulation or would the storm window system make the replacement windows less efficient? Thanks in advance.

I'm alread on the case, FenEx! I installed the replacement windows in my last home...small ranch...not too many windows. Yes, the Home Depot variety. :-)

I know what's involved (shimming and all that). Rest assured that I'll be watching every move they make.

Although I don't believe the RBA to be an equal of the Schuco, I do believe, given your experience, you made a wise choice. The only way the industry will change is if customers refuse to accept pricing games and poor sales practices. This may make some of you fall over, but given the comments that...

I've seen your other posts on your experience and know that you can relate to my angst! :-)

20 year warranty, full parts, labor, etc. Won't cost us a penny for any service call for 20 years, even if the window needs to be replaced. Each window has a bar code in it which tells them exactly which window is the issue, and should they need to make a new sash, or the whole window, they'll alrea...

I don't want to rock the boat, but that RBA story is well...a bit of a stretch from the truth that I know of. Maybe some of the big guys can chip in here to clear a few points.. Anderson invented Vinyl windows? I don't know, is that true? The invented "fibrex" 30 years ago, tested for 20,...
