Looks bad, but looks like you got what you paid for TBH. Sorry to say it.

First, you should probably see a proctologist.
Second, follow the link from windows on wash. They should be able to help.

Marvin if you need a real wood interior, Okna if you don't. I'm not a fan of the Provia window

Re: Whole house replacement
Silver label is a really low bar, even some of the worst windows are gold. Pretty much any reputable manufacturer is.
Good point about them using the BEST caulk though. Gotta be a good choice in that case.

Definitely Okna. I've tried out these Provia's and to say I'm not impressed would be an understatement

Re: Softlite Imperial Elite vs Joyce Heritage
I simply said that after they were installed I'd come back and tell my thoughts. I guess I could put a note on my calendar for 10 years out and circle back around then, but I doubt anyone would care at that point. You probably won't need a reminder since the windows themselves will remind you aroun...

Re: Softlite Imperial Elite vs Joyce Heritage
With all due respect, this is the same feedback that comes from 99% of low-priced buyers shortly after installation. Nice upgrade from the crappy old windows and saved a bunch of money, Dave Ramsey would be proud! 5-10 years down the road will tell the real story, sometimes even sooner. I don't hate...

Re: Economy 54x54 Sliders for Porch?
Would you ask an executive chef at a high end restaurant what he thinks about a vending machine meat sandwich?
Find a better window. Even if its just a porch, a crap window is going to be falling apart in fewer years than you can count on both hands. In some cases just one.

Re: Please clear up a question about window frames/sashes
howard, please excuse my departure from window commentary, but I just wanted to say that your headshot is truly fabulous. You bear a striking resemblance to the window nerd, the hair to beard ratio is nearly perfect. Additionally, your fit says "hey, I may be a construction guy, but I'm also re...

Re: These prices seem high
Most of that pricing that you see is old, it sounds like you are in the ballpark these days with those quotes. Actually the fact that you got two quotes in the same range pretty much confirms it. Both the windows are good, with the Okna having the edge. I wouldn't get hung up on "upgraded featu...

Re: Alside Mezzo Technical Response
Sounds like this may be the first and only window that you've ever installed, and if not, sheesh, what did you use before if you think these are decent? Thin gauge vinyl makes for flimsy frames that easily warp causing air leaks and poor operation. High incidence of seal failures. Flimsy frames also...

Re: Best middle of the road window for the money
You haven't seen any good windows. The pricing on the PV is in the ballpark, but you can do much better for maybe a little bit more. The other units are out-house level, they'll provide plenty of ventilation - even when they're closed.
