Re: One more Question on Soft Lites

I just took measurements on my existing windows. It looks like I am going to lose about 1 1/2+" on each side. That's quite a bit. About a total of 3". I do have some smaller windows that are being done also. Hopefully it won't be too much of a change. When the contractor told me it would only be abo...

One more Question on Soft Lites

I am replacing my old Caradco wood windows with Soft Lite Imperial LS vinyl windows. I am going with the replacements over new construction. How much window space can I expect to lose? The contractor told me about an inch of each side, top and bottom. The windows I have now are roughly 30"X50". Shou...

My FINAL Soft Lite window question!

After meeting with the contractor yesterday, he determined that I didn't need to go the new construction window route. By changing to a Soft Lite Imperial LS replacement window, he was able to lower my per window price from $1250 to $820. This price includes 9/9 grids inside the window. Basic white ...

Re: Price for New Construction Soft Lite Imperial LS?

Done. I am meeting with the contractor tomorrow. Maybe I can knock him down a little on the price. He doesn't seem to want to budge. I will have to bite the bullet and pay a little more, but I think I will be happy in the end. Thanks to everybody for their input. It has been invaluable. It sounds li...

Re: Price for New Construction Soft Lite Imperial LS?

The company has very good reviews and references. They are also a James Hardie Preferred Contractor which is important for the siding aspect of the job. Their siding price was almost identical to my other bids. About $1000 a square. As far as the windows go, the interior trim that they are replacing...

Re: Price for New Construction Soft Lite Imperial LS?

So $1250 a window is a fair price?

Re: Price for New Construction Soft Lite Imperial LS?

The grids are between the glass, and yes, white exterior. Also included in their quote is 13 square of Hardie siding at $1000 a square.

Price for New Construction Soft Lite Imperial LS?

After much searching, I have decided to go with the Soft Lite Imperial LS New Construction Windows. They are all double hung, roughly 30"x50". 12/12 grids inside the windows. Woodgrain finish on the inside. The price I received was $1250 a window which seems like a lot. But it does include removal a...

Re: Andersen A Series or Soft Lite Imperial LS?

Thanks so much for your input. It looks like I may have to go with the Soft Lites. Just curious about the Andersen A Series though. If I were to combine their New Construction and inserts a later date, the appearance would not be a great match?

Andersen A Series or Soft Lite Imperial LS?

I have narrowed my choices down to these 2 windows. I really like the A series tilt in design over their 400 series windows. I really like the energy eficiency of the Soft Lite's. The prices I received from 2 different contractors are virtually identical, so I can choose either window. I will be ins...

Trim Question

I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum, but I will ask anyway in hopes that somebody has the answer. Along with replacing my windows, I am residing my house with Hardie Plank. I am also having all my facia, trim and corner boards replaced. I have a few bids that include this work with Hardie Art...

Re: ANOTHER....New Construction Window Question

I have heard of thre Marvin's. How are they compared to the Andersen's? What about the Harvey Classic New Construction windows? I did receive a proposal that included the Harvey's also.
Thanks
