Okna - Happy Customer

Just happened to run across a thread I had printed out years ago; figured I would come back with a happy update. After over 7 years of hemming, hawing, researching, we signed contracts in late last year to have our windows replaced. We live in a 1984 colonial in CT that had single pane wood windows ...

Re: Full vs Half screens - Okna

Thank for the advice! Full screens it is!

Guess there will be no more removing them from inside once a year to wash; a decent vacuuming will have to suffice.

Full vs Half screens - Okna

After 5 or 6 years of hemming and hawing, we signed contracts last week to get 20 Okna DH's, 1 slider, 2 picture windows and 2 patio doors replaced. We live in a 1984 colonial with single pane wood windows. We are going almond exterior and white interior. I was givrn the option of either full or hal...

Re: Verde, Okna, Vanguard - oh my???

Wow, many thanks Homesealed! This was a very helpful post to me and info I haven't been able to get on-line anywhere. I've been going back and forth with one installer since last year, something just didn't set right in my gut. We've decided on the Okna, we've decided on the dealer. Your post on the...

Re: Verde, Okna, Vanguard - oh my???

Thank you! Yes, swayed by cost; it is a huge expense and I want to spend my money wisely - the best choice for the best price with the best install. From what I've read, the Okna is our #1 choice, I just wish there were more options as far as dealers so I had more to compare. I have the guy who just...

Re: Verde, Okna, Vanguard - oh my???

So, got my numbers more settled. The guy who I had spoken to about the Okna windows has sold the business, it is now part of some other business and I don't know this new owner or his reputation enough to put this type of money into it. So I have been on the hunt for another Okna dealer. Anyone know...

Re: Verde, Okna, Vanguard - oh my???

I have to wait on the exact numbers for the Verde as installed like the Okna, but from what I can gather, yes, the Verde and Okna should be quite close. Hubby liked the Vanguard that he saw, he hasn't seen any of the others. Wondering how the windows would rate 1,2,3,4 for the Verde, Vanguard, Okna ...

Verde, Okna, Vanguard - oh my???

We are back to looking at windows after taking a break due to indecision last fall. I've looked at Marvin's, Anderson's last year and we crossed them off. We have 3 dealers that all have good reputations, like their installs, going to talk to one more on Monday. Our least expensive quote was Verde w...

Re: Replacement windows in CT

Did you read my post? :( Who called the windows plastic? If you read the post I wrote that I keep thinking that I can continue covering my current windows in plastic - that is what those window kits are made of isn't it? clear plastic with double sided tape - and save myself thousands and thousands....

Replacement windows in CT

In CT, a 1984 colonial that currently has single pane, aluminum tracks, aluminum storm shutters. I have 17 double hung windows, 2 sliding glass patio doors, 2 picture windows which are solid glass flanked by double hungs. Downstairs windows are okay except for the picture windows, upstairs don't sea...
