Search Function
Hello. Does this forum have a search function? The FAQ says there is a search function on the Board Index but I'm having trouble finding it.
I wanted to reread information about AAMA and other certifications but do not want to ask again. Thank you.

Re: NFRC.org - Verify Ratings Tab
It's pretty tough to see the pictures as the view is so far away. The Okna 400dx is a little plainer on the exterior. Also, the Starmark composite they make has a flat look to the exterior, though it's a bit bulkier. . This forum only allows small pics. Can see a bit better by pressing control and ...

Re: NFRC.org - Verify Ratings Tab
1283 Window Lines (256x188).jpg I am guessing you are referring to the colonial bevels to the exterior? That is actually preferred by most customers to help break up the exterior look of the window and make it appear less synthetic. It also helps with the structural test pressures as well. It's the...

Re: NFRC.org - Verify Ratings Tab
There is nothing about the color variation that is listed on the NFRC to my knowledge. I also am not sure that SDL (Simulated Divided Lite) grids are listed either. Here is the NFRC link for a double pane, 800 series, deluxe, with Low-e: http://search.nfrc.org/search/cpd/cpd_search_detail.aspx?cpdn...

Re: Sears Weater Beater Windows
Thanks for posting this Weather Beaten. The labor can be as expensive as new windows. I am finding that a LOT of windows, even the most expensive ones, do not have a good warranty. Renewal by Andersen warranty for the sash is only 5 years. I've had salespersons tell me that their windows have a life...

Re: NFRC.org - Verify Ratings Tab
Thank you! Can you link me to the 800? That one allows color variations with external grids, and may be my only Okna option. I have HOA color issues I have to comply with.

NFRC.org - Verify Ratings Tab
Hello. Shouldn’t consumers be able to verify NFRC ratings on NFRC.org?

I do not see Okna double-hung windows listed, and many others seem to be missing too. Thanks for any thoughts.

Dealer Customizes Windows
Is there an opinion about dealers who customize windows made by a manufacturer? This seems to happen with smallish manufacturers. The salesman characterizes these customizations as improvements - and perhaps they are. Would changes impact on the AAMA certification and NFRC ratings? The manufacturer ...

Re: Windows that can color match trim
You are correct on that, most manufacturers will not be able to match an exterior custom color on a gbg (grid between glass). My experience in dealing with many manufacturers is that a close standard color can be used, or SDL grids as you mentioned. Something may not be accurate with the other info...

Re: Windows that can color match trim
Are you talking about the exterior (I assume so)? Okna most certainly will color match. Not sure about Revere Okna says they can match sash/frame parts, but not grid between glass. They can only color grids outside the glass (e.g. sld). Revere cannot color match their windows to the frame. So far, ...

Windows that can color match trim
Can anyone suggest a window manufacturer that can produce windows (sash/frame and grids) that are colored to match the trim? I have HOA color requirements. I'm now finding that Okna and Revere windows do not color match. Thank you.

Re: Sloped Sill and Weep Holes
I might add that you couldn't be in better hands than in the hands of the WOW team. Their installers are first class. The windows that were installed in those pictures now allow any sill drainage spill of to exit off the face of the sheathing and trim boards into pretty much the ground. Best case r...

Foam Seal During Installation
I have watched videos on replacement window installation and most foam-seal around and inbetween the shims. Videos show that the foam is injected from the inside and again from the outside. Some of the window representatives say that they foam-seal as routine, while a minority seemed to think it was...

Re: Sloped Sill and Weep Holes
Looks like that is all squared away... I'll just confirm what the others stated that you are looking at slots for drainage, not true "weep holes" which are holes in the frame where water drains from chambers in the extrusion. They typically have covers with little flaps as well. Thanks, H...
