Re: Reasonable Pricing

The story is covered in this thread- http://www.vinyl-replacement-windows.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6271 . The majority of my windows are 83" oriels, which the contractor did not order, and Soft-Lite will not build. Unfortunately, I didn't notice they were built wrong till they had alre...

Re: Reasonable Pricing

Are you happy with the windows that were installed? Are you going to be able to match them with another contractor? As to what's fair on the payment, did you receive an itemized quote for each window? If not, I would request one that shows the price you were paying for each window installed. What's...

Re: Window Options

Every time I think I can get something worked out on these windows I learn otherwise. The dealer now insists that Soft-Lite can't make any double hung with a top sash that's more than 43" long (tall). Even after asking about fixing the top sash, etc. etc. That sure rules out oriels for all of m...

Re: Window Options

Soft Lite has said no way on making the large oriels (47X83) even with a locked top sash. I'm still waiting on the dealer to suggest an option that doesn't involve all of the non-oriels that I don't really want. I offered to accept them all as is for a 40% discount, but he declined :D . Really, I'm ...

Re: Window Options

Time for an update----after much confusion about pricing for Don Young and a further discount on Soft-Lite, I ended up going with the Soft Lite Imperial LS. Now I've found out that window receiving is just as frustrating as window shopping..... After waiting 7 weeks for delivery, the 12 units ...

Re: Window Options

The Sunrise dealer also was told by the Sunrise rep----" They offer the fiberglass reinforcement piece in all of the sash panels, top, bottom and sides for about $24 per window. " From studying at the Randy school of windows, I've learned that the more reinforcement the better for large si...

Window Options

I've received some quotes and will listen to any feedback you all care to provide. Location-Oklahoma City. FWIW, my cooling costs have run around $1400/year over the last couple of years and heating around $500. Heating includes occasional heating of my un-insulated garage. Single Level Brick House,...

Window Shopping in Oklahoma City

Just for grins to be a post hog and as a cathartic release, thought I'd share my experience with dealers so far trying to find replacement windows. Kudos to everyone here helping to inform people, but it has to be a lot easier to know nothing and get your windows bought. I think I may know too much ...

Re: Getting Ready to Get Some Quotes

Not a ringing endorsement for Sunrise. I was under the impression it was needed for any vinyl window in hot climates.

Re: Getting Ready to Get Some Quotes

As usual, you all are correct. The Sunrise rep confirmed that none of the single hungs, including the "premium" brands, have reinforcement in the single hungs. Makes window shopping very frustrating. I expressed to both salesmen that sash-reinforcement was at the top of my "must-have&...

Re: Getting Ready to Get Some Quotes

Understood. The dealers were talking about a "Restorations" and a "V-Class" SH-I specifically asked to make sure they weren't talking about the basic Sunrise unit. Maybe the Sunrise(Restorations) engineer can clarify for me.

Re: Getting Ready to Get Some Quotes

I called Restorations, who said they did make a single hung. They didn't know ratings, CPD#s, etc off-hand, but said their engineer would call me tomorrow.

Re: Getting Ready to Get Some Quotes

That's what has me confused. But both dealers - Restorations and VClass, said they could get SH. Adding to the confusion, the NFRC site lists all Sunrise brands for the SH windows in their catalog.
