And I almost asked our installer. Glad I went here first. Thanks everyone! We really love our Sunrise Restoration windows!

Re: Sunrise Restoration Double Hung hard to open/close top

That was it! Thanks! We had tilted them awhile ago to clean and didn't sit that one back in fully. Thanks for the help!

Sunrise Restoration Double Hung hard to open/close top

One of our double hung Sunrise windows is hard to open and close. The bottom portion opens and closes smoothly but when we open the top part it then seems to get stuck or locked and and difficult to close. Any reason for this? Bottom open, top open, then top part gets stuck when trying to close or a...

Re: Overwhelmed and torn now between Simonton and Sunrise

Well we decided to take the advice and go above and beyond and replace all windows in the house. We also decided for the front of the house to do casements with the Single Prairie Grids on the front windows. We originally had the Colonial Style Grids (which all the homes in our area had) and felt th...

Re: Overwhelmed and torn now between Simonton and Sunrise

After initially being so adamant and favoring the Simonton window, I think we're going to follow your advice here and go with the Sunrise Restoration. It's nice to know the benefit we received from you all and this website. We may even add an additional window to the list and in the future replace t...

Overwhelmed and torn now between Simonton and Sunrise

So I followed some of the forum input here and got several quotes (two for Simonton 5500 double pane and one quote with the Sunrise Restoration triple pane). We liked what we heard from all of the installers and kind of liked them equally but probably liked Sunrise's features and insulation, etc a b...

Re: Window tints

That makes sense WOW. Is a two point increase significant enough to avoid this option? We don't want to damage items on mantel or lighten leather couch where sun hits either. (and by the way, thank you so much for your responsiveness...nice to have input from neutral party professionals) I would the...

Re: Window tints

Do you think it's a substantial different if the SHG then goes UP two points? That's the difference. with only e366 it's 22 with e366 and tint it becomes 24. I've never seen a window with the tint and don't know how much glare without the tint it produces. Just don't want to be overkill here. (not m...

Re: Window tints

One more question: This is for a window above the TV. We thought about also adding a bronze tint to it (e 366 glass) (manufacturer tint). Oddly by doing that the SHG goes up a little bit. Is it overkill to do this? Would we see a glare in our eyes with just the Low E 366 or would the tint be benefic...

Re: Simonton 5500 quote, opinion? Additional quotes....

Getting another quote today. I'd like to do an apples to apples comparison so will ask for the Simonton 5500 but would also like to add an additional model into the mix. I've seen Sunrise and Soft-Lite ones people seem to recommend here. Are they both good options for Colorado? Which would be a mid-...

Re: Window tints

Thanks! We'll go with the bronze for this one window. We watch TV in this area and don't like when the sun hits our eyes as well. (quote="Windows on Washington"]Most have a grey or bronze tint available as an option. Low-e 366 should give you a good bit of solar control to start with. Appl...

Window tints

we have a window above our fireplace that we had previously put a window tint film on. The sunshine is really brightly through this window throughout the day and there's no window covering on it.
Do any window brands have or can be made with a darkening tint?

Re: Simonton 5500 quote, opinion?

It seems from other posts, other like Soft Lite (are they here in Colorado?), Sunrise and Milgard seem more in price than this brand. We do have a Simonton triple pane in our bedroom, installed 5 years ago or so, and it's been fine. I know you can't block all sound as sound travels through walls as ...

Re: Visual image help adding small opening

Thanks. We ended up deciding against it and making it a picture window as it was. There's a window we can open somewhat near it. Thanks for the input. Whether to go Oriel or Cottage depends on how you use the room. We have a client that did the 60/40 split (top over bottom) because of where his wind...

Re: Simonton 5500 quote, opinion?

Thanks We can't afford more than this really. Are there better ones at the same price or would the price go up much more? Thanks again for your input. Seems like a fair price, but I don't think the 5500 is in the same conversation with the upper end unit that are usually discussed on here. The frame...
