Re: Feedback on quote in Texas

We went with Southern Pride Openings. I have another thread on this main page that you can see some before and after pictures. Ours were done a few months back and my dad and stepmom liked them so much, they are getting theirs replaced by Southern Pride this next week. Tom, the owner of the company,...

Re: Feedback on quote in Texas

Curious where in TX you are located? If in DFW (like I am), there are multiple Sunrise dealers and I assume you probably had Statewide come out seeing those prices. If you are in Houston, you should give Randy above a call for a quote. After doing all my research on here, and going through about 6 b...

Re: My window install has begun

The brand is Decra. The previous owners put it on ~12 years ago and it has a 50 year life. It has the highest UL rating, which provides a nice insurance discount (35% or so). The largest claim type here in TX is hail, so these being impervious to hail makes it great in that respect and what causes t...

Re: My window install has begun

Alright, a little delayed with my final update, but the windows are in (well, except the two that they messed the grids up on and have to come back and redo later). A couple before and after pictures of the front and back. In the front, we wanted to keep configuration the same, but changed up the gr...

Re: My window install has begun

Thanks all for the responses, I figured it must be something like that. We actually went with SH to save some money since our house is 1 story and getting to all the windows is pretty easy. Here is the first big window on the front done. Had colonial grids before, changed it up to perimeter. Pretty ...

My window install has begun

So it has been a couple months, but my windows are finally here and today was the start of the install. Sunrise Vanguard x 28 windows (replacing 38 with new configurations). The 36x72's that have gone up on the front have .24 UF and .19 SHGC, pretty happy about those numbers. A little better SHGC th...

No sir, DFW. Gulf Coast was the only company they said was up here and when the sales guy came out, he said they only did Okna composite. They had a vinyl offering from a different comapny, but he didn't leave me any literature.

Re: Replacement windows, I think I know what I should do, but...

Just curious if you called them. That is what I had to do in order to find a local dealer, spoke to a lady named Sharlene. One big note, let them know what product you are wanting (IE vinyl windows). I got the name of the only vendor locally and scheduled a visit from them. Turns out, they only offe...

Re: Shopping for windows - American Window Systems?

This should be my last post for awhile on my window project until the install. After all of our quotes, changing designs, we ended up at the quotes between NT and the second Sunrise dealer. The NT were going to be triple pane on West and South sides, double everywhere else and the Sunrise Vanguard a...

Re: Shopping for windows - American Window Systems?

After reading through complaints about milgard, the quality concerns are obviously well founded. Even though we like the looks a little better on the milgard, it certainly seems that nt has a better track record.

If we go with nt, does it make sense to spend a little more on the optional dp upgrade?

Re: Shopping for windows - American Window Systems?

Well, I do want to get the numbers for them, first. Strangely enough, the literature doesn't have any UF/SGHC/AI numbers. I found AI of .08 for most of the windows on a document online. I will say, with a lifetime warranty, I feel a little better about them, assuming UF and SHGC are good. Being that...

Re: Burris Tectview v. JeldWen Premium

I can chime in and say that Okna vinyl is not available in DFW. I called them and checked. Gulf Coast Windows and Doors sells their Starmark composite windows, though. The only premium we have is Sunrise and from my experience, very pricey.

Re: Shopping for windows - American Window Systems?

Ok, thanks. My wife likes the style of the Milgard better than the NT and I agree, they do have a nice look to them. The other selling point he made was full lifetime warranty, parts and labor on them. They did have reinforced frames with aluminum, but don't do foam filled frames. Not sure that is a...

Re: Shopping for windows - American Window Systems?

So the dealer came out today, np pressure, but wanted me to see the difference between NT Presidential and Milgard Hermosa (designed for TX market). Very similar windows, liked them both. He said the Milgard would be a little cheaper (minimal difference most likely, less than $1k when comparing appl...
