Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

I don't think they look "off", but understand that is a bunch of personal preference here. I like how large the room feels when the larger picture windows are gridless. Unfortunately the view sucks. It's just out to the front yard and the neighbors houses. No great view to speak of. Wife ...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Here is the large setup that we are trying to figure out. Ignore the ugly shades, those will all be coming down as soon as we get the new windows in lol The 2 double hungs on the sides will definitely be left with grids, and the 1/2 round on top will have the sunburst style grids. I just can't pictu...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Guys, you have a measurably superior window, from a company that you both clearly like and trust (FWIW I have no clue who they are). The fact that the higher prices option is something that you are pondering and appears to be within your budget really should make this an easy decision. Keep in mind...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Haha.. we are in the same boat with ours very similar situation. We are down to the Okna 500 vs the Vista and it is a pure price decision at this point. We have a very similar window in the family room as well. We are thinking open on top, and the bottom 1/4 Casement 1/2 Picture and 1/4 Casement. W...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Another question for the pro's that have seen a ton of windows and designs. I have 2 double hung windows with a picture window between them and a 1/2 round on top of the picture window all mulled. Right now everything has colonial grids, we are thinking about doing no grids in the replacement pictur...

Re: Simonton 5050 vs Vista Panorama vs Soft Lite Barrington

Those specs are for the Vista Panorama. It's from a document they sent over to me after I requested the air leakage number however I haven't been able to confirm it anywhere else. Also I'm not exactly sure how to read everything so apologize if I'm interpreting it wrong. For the price and if accura...

Re: Simonton 5050 vs Vista Panorama vs Soft Lite Barrington

I'm a first time home buyer who just bought a house and this winter I'm freezing next to my single pane wood windows. I need to get this fixed so I'm shopping a variety of entry level windows. I realize these aren't for everyone but I just can't afford an anderson or marvin level window. I had them...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

The Okna/Soft-lite dealer was out yesterday and gave me a quick estimate. Elements - $11,533 Bainbridge - $9,543 Okna 500(Insul-tec) - $10,034 The Elements are beautiful windows and that .01 CFM air infiltration is no surprise looking at the window. That being said, the frames are quite a bit thicke...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

I see a trend of more expensive window configs being offered, so I will suggest quad awnings, lol... Honestly though, the configuration is 100% your call. A DH would be cheapest because it is likely that only the lower sash would need tempering, which is priced per sq ft. You should definitely cons...

Option #4 Thanks Delaware Mike. I just looked at that window style and agree that may be the best way to go.

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Hey all, While I'm working on getting more quotes I have question for some of you pro's in regards to the situation in my master bath. Everyone that has come out to give me a quote has given me different advise...I'd like to see what the consensus here is. Currently I have a large picture window...4...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Thats interesting. You wont find much support for alside. The earthwise 143 is a window made by slocomb which is decent . It definitely could be a Slocomb window, but they also have a manufacturing plant in Baldwin, GA. The plants in Baldwin, GA; Slocomb in PA and the plant in Fort Myers all fulfil...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

I've decided to definitely get another quote. I'm waiting on a call back from a Soft-Lite dealer and am scouring the boards for a 2nd option on a good "upper mid grade" product if that makes sense. I appreciate everyone taking time to post on these boards. I know y'all get a lot of the sam...

Re: Vista Panorama, Earthwise or Polaris Unishield?

Hey everyone just a quick update...Universal Windows Direct uses Polaris as their northern states manufacturer, however in the south they are using Alside in NC. Unishield Classic is similar to Alside Fussion, Unishield Plus is similar to the Alside Mezzo and Unishield Premium or Supreme is similar ...
