Excellent advice Alacoyote, particularly #2. I honestly just have to shake my head at how similar our "window stories" are. We had the exact same exchange with the contractor we ultimately chose regarding a building permit. He was the first to even mention a permit needed to be pulled (alt...

That's a huge amount of window! I like your pattern--unique. I get what you mean about a "touch" of grid work. I fully expected to prefer the pattern with more grids but it may a bit too busy. In regards to my comments about our installer.... I was referring to a previous thread I had star...

How's it going Alacoyote? Thanks for checking in. You're right, we did make our decision almost a month ago but gave ourselves a week to see how it felt. Then between our vacation and life in general....well, here we are :D The more I deal with this contractor/installer, the better I feel. Night and...

Thanks for the help. Mikey105, this all started with us trying to make the look as uniform as possible. The LR windows on the front call for 4 over 2 (according to Certainteed's guidleines) but the DR windows, also on the front, measure out for 3 over 2 (but are very close to the 4 over 2 measuremen...

grid patterns....need input ASAP

Hey everyone......looking for your help once again. We are very happy with our decision between the two installers we were looking at and placed an order today for 19 Certainteed Bryn Mawr II windows. Have decided to add the between-the-glass sculptured grids but have questions regarding the pattern...

The price is for replacement windows and includes installation. There will be an additional charge of about $100 for a building permit as well. We are considering between the glass grids which would add $30/window.

Thanks for the update Alacoyote. I think you will be most happy with the 9800's....a great looking window that seems to be very well thought of on these boards. Excellent choice. It's funny how so much of what you have written in this thread mirrors our experience i.e. concerns about spacers and bal...

FWIW, I did clarify with my salesman that the Certainteed Bryn Mawr II does indeed have the Intercept warm edge spacer not the swiggle spacer used previously.

Price includes windows and installation. DH sizes average 40-50 x 35-50, sliders average 45-50 x 35.

Congrats on your decision. We liked the look of the Simonton quite a bit, just had some concerns about the weep holes. It would be great if you could see the 9800 ....very nice. The Simonton installer here is the same as the GL and if we do go with him it will be for the Seabrooke. We also noted tha...

Hey alacoyote- I'm located in Michigan...tri cities area. What did you think of the Bryn Mawr II? We have not made a final decision yet though may be leaning towards these. I still like the Great Lakes Seabrooke window better but have some concerns RE: installation. We are really dragging our feet o...

Great forum. So glad I found this as we know next to nothing about vinyl replacement windows......or we did before we started frequenting this board. Thanks to all for your input. We are replacing 19 windows, 14 DH and 5 sliders. Quotes are as follows: Great Lakes Uniframe $10,147 Great Lakes Seabro...
