Re: Requesting Help on Window Selection
We use either the Okna 800dx or Vytex HP Potomac. We do mostly the 800dx, about as air tight as you can get.

Re: Design Question - Fireplace Flanking Windows
I would suggest wider windows to get as much bang for your buck as possible.
Either mock up the windows with painters tape on the wall or cut out two full size window mock up out of paper or cardboard, tape them on the wall stand back and decide.

Re: Cleaning vinyl windows after tornado.
The photos I have looked at have the glazing bead to the exterior. If so deglazing is not required. Just R&R stops and cleaning

5500 drafty and thin extrusions. Many years ago they were a primary offering for us. We became more concerned with AL, and gladly moved to so much better product.

Re: Cleaning vinyl windows after tornado.
I do not think you will get any cloth in there. You might be able to slide a new thin flexible putty knife in there and flick the debris out. Or you hire a window guy to remove the glazing bead, clean it off, reinstall. A good handy man might be able to do it. Take pictures before and have filed wit...

Re: Which windows should I install, replacement or new construction windows?
In new construction n integral fin install makes sense. In retro/replacement doing an install without fin is fine.
All the above have to be done right and have no water leaks over the life cycle of the install.

We have been dinking around with Vytex as an alternative window, using the Potomac HP.

Re: Okna Window Questions
Most standard trim styles can be gotten in primed, actually it is hard to find it not primed. I like prefinished, but when painted it creates a problem with nails holes and putty. Even if white the best result is to fill holes and then top coat the whole unit if you do not want to see the the fillin...
