Re: wincore windows
Wincore was formed in 2007 as a result of a buy-out of Simonton Windows by Fortune Brands. The company is many ex-Simonton Executives and many of their factory people. The Wincore 7700 is a pretty decent window. Nothing that puts it into the top eschelon of windows IMO but a solid window with respec...

Re: Female needs help--find replacement windows
Since you are on a vinyl window site, I will assume you are interested in vinyl windows. Some of the brands you will see that get mentioned here frequently are made by Sunrise, Softlite, Okna, Gorell and Simonton. I would either contact the manufacturers or do a Google search for companies that carr...

Re: Starmark Window/Insert Installation Question
I'd ask the installer to come back out and re-inspect the caulking. You shouldn't be hearing noises from your windows. Especially really nice ones like the Starmark.

Re: Need New Sliding Patio Door
Reliabilt doors are fine for those on a budget or for a rental property. The are no where near the quality of a Sunrise Patio door which IMO is the best on the market. It's also likely you will get a much better installation from a Sunrise Dealer as opposed to having Orange install the door for you....

Re: Starmark Window/Insert Installation Question
If the windows were measured really tight and there was no room for foam, that would be my second choice. Better than fiberglass insulation. There's no "protocol" per se. Just a difference in what some Pro's use. In other words, you would not be justified in expaecting the installer to com...

Re: Please HELP.. Need windows installation quesstion
If it was me, I would call them and demand another contractor and I would demand they order all new windows. Hopefully, this time you will get an installer who knows how to measure windows properly so he doesn't need to use head expanders on the vertical sides. Seriously, that's a really bad install...

Re: SE MI/NW OH looking to replace 25 year old Anderson windows
I think people misunderstand the use of sub-contractors. Some of the best installers are sub-contractors. Often once an individual develops his installation skills, he decides to start his own installation service and is hired by a general contractor to perform installs. This has no effect on your w...

If you trust them that little, I would find a contractor you do trust.

Re: Please HELP.. Need windows installation quesstion
Unbelieveable!! No, that's not the proper way to add foam insulation. I would have insisted they remove the trim coil and spray from the outside. BTW, that's a pretty amatuerish looking caulk job, too. When you purchased the windows, did they promise you they would use spray foam? I wasn't aware tha...

Re: SE MI/NW OH looking to replace 25 year old Anderson windows
Sunrise is probably pretty near you. They are in Temperance fairly near Toledo. You could call them and ask for a reference or you could try a Google search for a Sunrise dealer in your area. Windows are not an investment in the sense that they should "pay for themselves in XX number of years&q...

I haven't had the occasion to order it yet. I don't expect to anytime soon. I know it's available but a dealer this far south would have to be careful about using it. I'll ask my Sunrise Windows rep.

Re: Windows in North Jersey
Double pane Cardinal 3/4 I.G. with LoE 180 on surface #2 and i81 on surface #4 with argon gas yields a U-factor of .21 and a SHGC of .59. Of course that's COG but even installed in a quality window would still net a U-factor in the mid 20's http://www.cardinalcorp.com/technology/reference/loe-perfor...
