Re: To Spray Foam or Not?
Fiberglass insulation is only useful if it is installed into a completely airtight cavity. So if your installer gets the pockets completely sealed, it will be fine. If the cavity is not well sealed, air will move right through it, as will moisture. That's why closed cell foams are far superior. +1 ...

Re: Vinyl Window Manufacturer for Four Seasons Sunrooms?
Honestly, I'm not sure, but why would you want to spend thousands of dollars with a company that won't even be fully honest with you about such a basic concern as who makes their windows?

Re: Okna 800, Softlite Elements, Simonton 9800 - Splitting Hairs
Three very good choices. I would give a lot of weight to the installation company, followed by price and which product features that you like best. Any of the three will serve you well.

12 windows with all of those options, that sounds like a good price.

Re: To Spray Foam or Not?
#2 as long as you use low expanding foam I don't care much for PVC coil simply because the striations hold more dirt than a smooth finish. That said, there's nothing wrong with it. It will hold up as well as a any painted coil. I agree 100% with buddy on both points.... The only people against spra...

Re: CertainTeed or Hayfield
Certainteed is a mess. PlyGem only bought their west coast product, around here they still sell them as Cetainteed through some vendors, others label it an MI or one of it's many aliases.. It's not a great window... I know nothing at all about Hayfield.

Re: Damsel in distress...help
i like the price you recieved for Restorations which is a very good window. if you like the company i would seriously consider them. alside does not belong in the same sentence as Restorations. although Okna and gorell are both great products, your price for restorations is so good it warrants serio...

Yes! That's a very good price. There are dealers selling the same product for over $1000, so that is a great price on a very nice window.

Re: Please rank these windows for performance & quality
The Gorell, Softlite, and Simonton would all be good choices. From a pure numbers aspect, Wow's ranking is accurate.

Re: best window choice
I'd add that installation from the exterior is usually preferred among pros in a replacement application, especially when lead safe renovation procedures are necessary. When was your home built? If before 1978, it is likely that you'll need these procedures done, which along with aluminum exterior c...

I think that Simonton and Softlite both make fine products, although if your only concern is numbers, the LS will win regardless of glass package .

Re: Owens Corning Solace windows
The Solace is made for OC by Sunrise. Its a very nice window, just make sure that the price isn't out of line because it often is.... RBA= decent product, but always overpriced and most of their dealers engage in some shady tactics from what I've seen... Pella wood Architect and Designer series are...

I nominate the Amerimax Master's Grande for coolest window name ever.... Sounds like a special feature at taco bell for 4th of July or something.
