Re: Question about warranty repairs on Okna replacements

i thought it was a cracking sound when tilting windows in. thats totally normal.
if it happens when going up and down, i agree with windows on washington that debris could be the issue. either way, a quick and easy fix.

Re: Question about warranty repairs on Okna replacements

1) your window does not need grease. its totally normal for the window to make that sound; its the balance system locking and unlocking. 2) glass breaking has nothing to do with the quality of the window. its something that can happen to glass. although i suspects yours was a stress crack. Okna warr...

Re: Schuco windows, Thermal industry and Atrium.

Atrium and TI both have design flaws and lack both structural and energy performance. i agree on the windows that windws on washington recommended..
The Affinity Ultra series window as well as HiMark, Sunrise, Polaris ,and Soft lite all make very solid windows.

Re: Gorell vs. Softlite?

i'll take a KD any day.. just the thought of unloading an 8ft patio door in triple pane and then carrying it up two flights of stairs puts my back into spasms. lol

Re: Gorell vs. Softlite?

i agree with you on your preference toward brass rollers opposed to nylon. Bear in mind gorell is a very good product but in this case i would go with the soft lite patio door. $2900 for a patio door is well within range for a high quality vinyl but a 1700 upcharge for laminated might be a bit of a ...

Re: replacing my windows

its not a good price if its a cheaply made window. thats only 400 per window..
find our some specs for us:
total Ufactor
DP rating
air leakage number
what kind of spacer do they use?
is it a welded sloped sill or a snap slope/ pocket sill?

Re: MI Windows Law Suit

.29 air leakage number is outrageously high. thats almost as if you are leaving your window open.. we like to see a .08 or lower on a double hung.

Re: MI Windows Law Suit

another example as to why we never recommend low quality windows such as MI Windows. Unfortunately I am not shocked by this. Cheap windows come at a high cost. they obviously dont care about quality.. this is why the pro's here continue to endorse high quality companies such as Sunrise, Okna , HiMar...

Re: Sunrise Fibercore Reinforcement - Worth the extra cost?

i am a big fan of reinforcement in the sunrise window. i would definitely opt for reinforcement and foam without a doubt..you get structural integrity for a very nice looking window that way.

prices seem fine. i would give a slight nod to the imperial and over time, the upcharge doesnt add up to much.

Re: Pricing between flat and sculptured grids

i can see 15 per window from flat to contoured but certainly not 150 ..
150 is a normal price for contoured SDL ( simulated divided lite); that may be what was priced.
