I went through the ringer with window estimates. i can tell you with certainty, all 3 windows you looked at(american craftsman, crystal,and Ideal) are all low quality and you are going to want to replace them in a few years. the state attorney general in connecticut is going after the BBB because they give good ratings to those that pay. the BBB is a scam and i would never use them to make a decison.

I have a similar situation to where the existing capping is nailed to the outer of the casing. The J channel butts against the casing so ripping out the existing capping could be a bit hard on the j and possibly the siding. My contractor pointed it out and explainef it and I am fine with it. We met with castle but we thought the product was average at best. We go to find out they use SoftLites lower end window. Cheaper price for a cheaper window I guess.
