The upcoming Schuco European products definately look like they are going to be a home run, once they do work the kinks out of the production and delivery sides. They have been teasing dealers with them for over a year now - and supposedly they will be available after the first of the year. (My sale...

While I can't speak for your individual dealer, I can say that with all the great things that have been said about Schuco windows on this board -- the one negative is that they do take a lot longer to get than other brands. (I switched from a manufacturer that guaranteed a one week turnaround, so th...

While I'll defer to FenEx, who will has far and away more technical info than anyone else here -- I'd say your post about Gorrell exaggerated (or embellished) on the following: 1.) Foam filled frames do little if anything to increase the overall efficiency of a window over a multichambered extruded ...

It doesn't go through the glass...if it is lost it is because of a failure in the seal system.

FenEx,
I honestly read this earlier...but didn't post anything because I didn't want to step on your toes! :) I counted at least five whoppers in the post above. I couldn't wait to hear what you had to say...

HipKat is correct. PPG the manufacturer of the Intercept spacer calls it "warm edge technology" in comparison to the old aluminum spacers. The u shaped steel is less conductive than aluminum, but it is a conductor nonetheless. Windows with metal spacer systems will have a colder temperatur...

I'd say its a better than average window. I wouldn't rate it as high as some of the others mentioned. It uses the intercept spacer, which automatically takes it out of the top tier in my book. There are better seal systems out there, particularly TPS and SuperSpacer. Secondly they push foam filled f...

I agree...the price sounds pretty good but don't let the guy's "model house discount" push you into the deal. Check out the company with your local BBB, ask for references etc. and once you feel comfortable go for it. I guarantee you he'll write the deal when you are ready whether its toda...

After Schuco I'd rank Sunrise Restorations and then Simonton 9800 both with triple pane as numbers 2 and 3. From what I've seen of Vista it looks like it could make the list as well.

Guy, I like these boards because of the variety of opinions they elicit. Installers, sales reps, customers, manufacturers and business owners all trade their experiances. I've learned a lot from reading these things. I would never question or contradict something you might have to say based on your ...

I'm not slapping anyone, I'm just being realistic....To say that the company hasn't got anything into the job just because they haven't measured yet is not necessarily true. If you were my customer, I'd work with you to get your order cancelled -- but if I've paid a sales rep that is a legitimate bu...

It has nothing to do with Schuco, but rather the individual company that you signed the order with. A lot of companies charge penalties for late cancelations (after the statuatory 3 day recission period) to cover the costs they may have already incurred on your job, (permits, sales and marketing com...

In addition to windows, I also install an all glass sunroom made by a manufacturer that used to use Heat Mirror in their rooms. I've seen and replaced enough failed heat mirror glass units to know that the product won't work long term. Obviously this manufacturer has learned the hard way, since they...

Agreed...$26K is definately high based on the openings you mention. My advice is to get some more quotes on other "high end" triple pane windows; Simonton 9800, Alside Preservations, Sunrise Restorations, etc... You'll get a pretty good idea what the "going rate" for a high end w...
