Re: Simonton windows

The alarm triggers can usually be retrofitted to the new window. Some triggers are magnetic and some are buttons. The button type will need to be buried into the new frame, and the magnetic type can be surface mounted. Check with your alarm company they might be willing to reinstall them. If your co...

Re: Great Lakes?

Regarding U- Value; Isn't it really a case of "You can pay me now or you can pay me later." Most companies are playing catch-up in the race to lower u values. It's like contemplating buying a car with 20 vs. 30 MPG Just purchase wisely.

Re: 5500/Prism Platinum vs. Polar Wall/Impressions 9800

So much overlap with Simonton
Are we comparing triple glaze to triple glaze here?
What are other differences? Simonton Sill? Interior or exterior glazing bead?
What are the U values of each?

Isn't a national average cost for such around 500-600 dollars each? Window quality and installation details can vary the price.

Seems to me that's 18 windows in total. This must be a "Slammer" No new trim, nor capping, nor foam insulation, nor expensive caulk. Please prepare for workmen by readying for all work to occur rapidly. Let us know how installation goes please.

My opinion is biased towards Simonton Prism. I have not installed the Sunrise nor am I familiar with it. Prism Platinum is my choice with deluxe option nail fin and j channel added for new construction. Simonton is touting new hardware finish options. Profinish is their builders model with nail fin ...
