The 500 is a nice window especially when offered at a discount, but for that fairly small price delta, it's hard to argue with the 800 which is the cream of the crop. That would be my choice.
The 600 is also nice, but again, talking $800 on a $20k ticket, I'd go with the best of the best in the 800.

Re: DC area: Vytex Williamsburg vs. MI Sunrise 4500 vs. Okna 500/600/800
At the risk of appearing to be a "homer" for Windows on Washington, they are the easy choice here. Okna is a premier performer and WoW is nationally recognized and respected for excellence. That window WILL fix any drafts, it IS built to last, but more importantly you know that you will ge...

Re: Plygem 5100 vs. Okna 500 series
Well, unless the Okna dealer has some other red flag, this is about as easy a choice as one could find. The Okna is much better by every metric. Yes it's their entry level window, but still a great performer and far from "entry level" as windows go. Odd that the pricing is close, these are...

Re: Baywindow Install - Some Advice??
+1. Lots of red flags here to suggest an amateur install. Par for the course for box stores in my experience, but I don't mean to pour salt into that wound. At minimum that opening needs to be completely re-trimmed, but I see enough to call the entire install into question to be quite honest. If the...

Re: exterior caulking a maintenance item?
+1, exterior pics would be great. That is a pretty significant amount of water infiltration to do all of that damage, you are at the point where that may all need to be ripped apart and repaired including the window. If that was recently installed, is it safe to say that there was some preexisting d...

Windows Direct Cincinnati, Chris is a part of our community here and runs a great operation down there. I'd highly recommend reaching out.

Re: Okna DH800 install question
It looks like the installers bent their aluminum to fit over your existing J channel. That's not a method that I favor nor is it common in my area, but it's not inherently wrong either. It essentially maintains the original water management system behind the siding. If you wanted to add a head flash...

Re: Okna DH800 install question
If you would like to post some pictures of your concerns and the overall workmanship we could offer some feedback on that. As far as the status based on your description, it's unfortunate that things got off on the wrong foot and the installers weren't tidy. Is it safe to assume that you've taken yo...

Re: Lowes v. Pella to install Pella windows? HELP US DECIDE!
My answer here would be Pella. In my area the box store installs are as described by DM. The local Pella branch is at least mixed, with some good installers. If you are set on that product, that would be the choice from my perspective, although based on DM's feedback that could certainly vary by mar...

Yes, they call them the Sunrise series, the models are 4500, 4550, and 5500 if I'm not mistaken (higher number is better). the Vanguard(4550) and Restorations(5500) appear to still be used as well, those would be the two best options.

Stock with the Softlites, preferably Elite or Elements. If it's any sort of distributor, their highest level of access is probably Elite (formally Imperial LS level). I don't think Thermatru makes windows. Andersen's are fine if you are considering wood interiors, but judging by your list, I'm think...

Re: Lowes v. Pella to install Pella windows? HELP US DECIDE!
Since this has been bumped, I'd just update my comments for 2024 by stating that skilled labor shortages have widened this gap substantially in the last 13 years. Box stores and "discount" type dealers are paying installers a fraction of what high quality companies are offering these days,...

Re: Possible wood rot
If you have concerns about the condition of the framing around the windows, I'd say yes, you'd be a good candidate for a full frame style installation. That doesn't always necessitate removal of the siding, particularly if there is existing exterior trim surrounding the current window. Even if there...

Re: need advice on quotes/windows okna v. sunrise v4500 v. provia endure
I have no idea why that Okna dealer sells both the 500 and 600, and that that price delta. Are they very similar? Yes. Is the 600 worth another $700 for 27 windows regardless? Big YES. The raw cost of the windows to the dealer is MORE than that difference, seems like an oddity unless he would just r...

Re: Okna Versus Provia Endure Sliding Patio Door and Casement Window
These products aren't very comparable, the Okna is top tier along with other like Softlite, Sunrise, etc. The Provia line is not in the same category.
