Re: Okna Window Questions

I appears to me that the major difference is the low expansion foam. Most of us would prefer to use foam. Can foam be used in method two? Yes, but you can not see how well it did. also you could be over foaming or underfoaming, neither of which is optimal. I think either method can work for you. The...

Re: Softlite Imperial Elite vs Joyce Heritage

It is tough to leave a MFG that you have had a long relationship with. But there many reasons.

Building that trust with another vendor takes time and energy.

Ask the owner for a heart to heart, "what would he put in his own house?"

Re: Softlite Imperial Elite vs Joyce Heritage

This is a tuffy.
I have not used SL for a decade, but left them due to poor QC. An installer I know that does high volume installs of SL says it is worse now.
I lean towards the lower AL, but would not want a lot of QC issues.

Re: Softlite Imperial Elite vs Joyce Heritage

No AL numbers on their website, usually that means they are embarrassed by how drafty the window is.

Re: Okna 500 vs 600 series

I agree that interlock is the wrong term for the anti sash drift feature on the window.
Brandon as far as I know the 500 does have the same anti sash drift function in the 500.

Re: Okna 500 vs 600 series

I am a 800DX fan. We start with it as our preferred product. To reinforce that and help more people get the 800DX, we only have a $50 difference between the 800 & 500. In our region/market most dealers that sale the 800 are $159 more than our average price. We can afford to make a little less in...

Re: Replacement Window Guidance for DFW

Sometimes they indicate that they make their own but they do not, it is a private label made by a window mfg for the dealer.

Ask them for the structural test result for the models they are proposing.

Re: Replacement Window Guidance for DFW

Often in Dallas the windows are large single hung. Aluminum makes the large sizes easier to do. Depending on the size and color thermally broken aluminum might be the best choice for you. It will have the narrowest profile, then fiberglass, then vinyl. Yup, no one says my price is so high or so low ...

Re: Replacement Windows in Metro Detroit Area

I would suggest SL or Sunrise.
I would stay away from NorthStar primarily for the bad design of a pocket sill.

Eric is not sharing. He probably has good reason.
Perhaps he will email us personally with the info.

Blessings to all.
