Yesterday I met a guy at a home show that had Marvin Infinity installed 2 years ago and had to put plastic on them this winter. He said the air was just blowing in. I told him to contact the contractor that put them in. For the amount he spent he should not have to put plastic on them....

I asked are rep at Home Depot the other day about the new law and said they really know nothing about it. I figured they would be stocking up on plastic and contractor bags for the rush. The best thing is they passed the law on earth day... :lol: Plastic is your friend...

Since they are the largest Certinteed dealer in the area and the fact that they are 1-mile over the bridge from NJ (Delaware has no sales tax), they get a ton of window and siding business from all of the local contractors. Once they cash that $300.00 check I think you are safe even if it takes 90 days... :lol: The EPA is making some good money off this rule..... EPA said today that if you filed your application before April 22 it will be reviewed by June. If you have taken the class and applied before April 22 EPA will not take action against you. If you haven't you could be fined. 90 days looks like the norm after filing your application. If you haven't i...

If your looking for energy efficiency I would compare the NFRC numbers on the windows you are considering.

I know a lot of guys on this board really like Simonton. I myself really think their a mediocre window. Thats just my opinion...

Did you see and compare the features and looks of the Simonton and Uniframe windows.

Great Lakes Windows was acquired by PlyGem Industries in 1986 which also includes Variform Siding, Napco Siding Systems, Kroy Fencing, CWD Windows, MW Windows and Doors, Alenco Windows, and Alcoa Siding.

I would run from the Uniframe line because they are going to discontinue it soon. PlyGem will be the brand. Decent window. If you live in New York make sure you get the best glass package available. The Uniframe is Great Lakes top of the line window. Its your best choice. They are not discontinuing...
